PB blaster is the best. Just very pricey
Soak the bolt everywhere and let it sit.
Repeat in an hour
Try the bolt again
Remember time is your friend keep soaking it if it wont budge
I was going to work on it today but it rained and is raining for the next couple days.
Ill try it later this week
At least i have new u joints already, ordered them and never installed.
I am having the same problem
My truck has new tie rods, steering box and tires.
Are there any more signs that will point to whether it is the u joint that is bad or a center pin on the leaf spring?
Tomorrow i'll check out the u joint and reinspect the front end... again
I've seen them for sale in the northeast on craigslist
Bunch of them around
All this talk of square rims and tires... i thought only Canadians had those
Man would i love to see a m1008 in the back of a 5 ton!
Loading that would be interesting.
I can come up with spares for a flat tow.
I dont have a tow bar though
My tires just shipped for my truck so i might be able to flat tow it,
Anybody have tow bar i could borrow/rent
I was hoping for the next week or two but i think i can arrange for more time.
Looks like were working the same as i am trying to get my current m1008 ready to roll again, if i can get mine going then i will look for a trailer rental to get it home
Do you have a trailer? IF i could rent one...
Hey all
I just bought a second M1008 in Maine and will be needing transportation back to mass.
Truck is non running and frankly i would prefer not to start it in front of the po.
It has one flat and will likely need a flat bed tow back.
It is parked in the woods just off the road. Looks like...
I keep putting it off but will do it eventually
I do carry a set or wire cutters though just in case i need to cut the wires to it and save my wires and starter
Replaced inner tie rods with Moog
Found out that they were not the source of slop in the steering, time for a new steering box
Pulled the trans and tcase out of my donor truck ready to rebuild them next
Bought a 85 chevy 1/2 ton for parts
Stripping the sm465 and np205 for my 1008
Hopefully have a rebuilt trans/transfer case with twin sticks installed in the next couple months....
Couple weeks ago did new kingpin springs and bushings
Yesterday replaced tie rods with new Moog
Did rear shocks with Rancho RS5000, fronts did not come with correct spacers
And a new steering stabilizer
Truck drives much better now, the steering wheel is much firmer and no death wobble...
Bought a M1008 today
Came from an airport in Beverly MA
Drove it home 30 Miles with no problems.
Tomorrow it will get new batteries(dead) and all the fluids will be changed.
New glowplugs will follow and the the starter relay.
