the diffs are open, but there both rear axles are still locked together (pinions spin the exactly the same). when i go around a turn real slow in 1st low, i can see the forward rear axle have some tire slippage. the tire is spinning faster than ground speed and acting like it wants to push me...
once it gets below 40, ill use it. ill use it a very little even if its warmer, but not much. i just think if you excersize the pump a little bit now and then, it cant hurt it. just a little bump of the switch now and then. as far as i know, the diesel fuel dosnt flow through the manifold heater...
I'd like to put a disconnect on the forward rear axle. i bet that would help out a lot. i just dont know how much abuse those hubs would take on the rear axle if you had them engaged and a full load on the back. i dont know enough about the hubs to know if they will take a beating like that. i...
yea, check in the TM's i want to say its in the -20, but i could be mistaken. just do a "ctrl F" to search the PDF file for valve adjustment or valve lash. its pretty easy to do. you only have the crankshaft in 2 positions to adjust all the valves. Im not sure about the valve cover gaskets. I...
What RPM is considered lugging the engine? Say you are going up a hill and you are slowly slowing down. I have a Boost Gauge on my truck, no pyro yet. highest boost ive ever hit was 10psi, foot to the floor and 2300rpm. I dont like going over 2200 because im scared to throw a rod.
I agree, my deuce is a little harder starting lately since its getting colder. I put the pedal almost to the floor to get it to start. I also try using the manifold heater. As far as i know, my manifold heater works. after i shut it down, i can turn the accessory switch back on and bump the...
Agreed. Rain x works great on the deuce...it stays on a lot longer than any of my other vehicles...who knows why. maybe i dont go fast enough to have the rain beat it off the windshield! haharofl
one OCD thing i do when i start it is i make sure it is in neutral and i dont push the clutch in. i figure i wont put stress on the thrust bearings before oil reaches them. after a little warm up (air pressure is built up by then) , im ready to rock and roll!:driver:
I rebuilt one air pack and the cup for the piston was installed backward. I fixed the problem, but you may want to check the threads on here about rebuilding the air packs. one part in the TM shows it installed wrong and i believe that will cause the cup on the brake booster master cylinder to...
i have been running about 70% UMO in the tank and i notice the boost is about 1PSI more than what it would have been with straight diesel. at 2300rpm and full throttle under load, i was almost 8.5lbs of boost. thats the most i ever had it. id turn my fuel up but i dont have a pyro and because of...
I had my hose off the gauge allready so im good there. My gauge dosnt read ass accurately as i would like, so maybe someday if i find a full sweep gauge like on an A3, i would like to put one of those on. its just 1/8"NPT on the gauge, correct? what connection is on the other end of the hose...
anybody find a replacement for these hoses? i believe the hose on the air valve for the front axle is leaking too. are they they same animal? it would be great to get a new one that way i dont have to think about it leaking again:roll:
Bigugh,
If that guy used them on a deuce, that means that fit (well kinda). respectfully saying, they may have worked, but do you know if that center part of the track fits between the duals? How wide are they?? do they ever surplus these tracks? maybe one side would be long enough for both...
those are pretty cool! I dont really have a need for tracks, but then again, i dont really have a need for a deuce other than a toy! still think it would be awesome to have! Are those track setups common at all? Given the geometry of our suspensions, i wonder how they would do off road. it...
i believe they were set up to only run in low range also. I heard a story where a guy was able to get his in high range but it made the thing gutless. What diesel engines did they put in them?
