A hand pump from harbor frieght will help transfer the oil. My advice is to let the 5 gallon pal of oil sit in the sun. It flows easy when it's hot. It two 5 gallon pals to change every thing and I have some left over. Do not over fill the trans. I used 90-80 valvilen
It missing an axle...truck looks good though. All I see is new paint though and a bob job. Was all the maintenance done, seals, pack bearing, brake service. $8k would get you a very nice winch truck with all the axles.:-D
Good luck hope you get it.
Yeap, a block heater plug. I bought one after reading a thread, but since i dont have a problem starting in the cold i never put it in.
The photo below shows the location of the temp sending unit. FOr those who are interested.
changing the sending unit is a cake walk. i had a friend hold the heater hoses out of the way, unplug the old one/screw it out, screw the new one in, and plug it back into the harness. If your quick you might not lose that much coolant.
Any thoughts on installing a heater plug?
Good reading I have a little dry rot two tires in the back. Planning on replacing though. The rest look new but could be ten years old i just dont know.
Excellent post Clinto
Make sure you include in your bduget shipping, maintenace, and repair. Maxing out on a bid could leave you in a tight spot if the truck does not run.2cents
Dito on Gimpyrobb post, you need check the brake system and lube the airpack. Changing all the fuilds should be on your list first.
My advice is baby steps, change the oil, change the fuel filters, etc...enjoy. When i first got my truck would try so hard to do it all in one day.
I noticed that the new spin on filters do not have a drain at the bottom. Any problems getting all the air out of the fuel system?
Thanks for sharing. I'm taking notice to how many good things i hear about spin-on.
Update: The truck data plate M35A2 W/W and engine heater plate i ordered were wrong. I found out the hard way that you should email the vendor a picture of the specific plate you want. My bad you live you learn.
Good news, I talked with David at mvdataplates.com and have ordered the remaining...
I bought the filters from Deuceman51.
Also took a little under 10 gallons of gear oil.
I would change out all the vent springs before you hit the road.
Also, lube the air pack and check for lose bolts between the transmission and transfer case. Include the bolts holding the steering box.
I got them from Saturn surplus. The id and flame heater plates don't match. I have to put an email see if I can exchange. The shift plate is on back order. The plates I have recieved are nice.
Sorry for taking so long to post.
Nope, never got a response back. I did not consider that a relieable source. Could be wrong but have note seen any positive posts.
Wife called box is sitting on the porch:grin:. Once i see the plates i will post some pictures and the source.
Just ran a track on my data plates. They arrived at my house. Can't wait tilll i get off work to install.
Plates right now have old carc tan on them and are faded. Should make the cab look new.roflAlso, replaced all the data plate screw with stainless steel hex head.

One of the main reasons i enjoy this site is becuase of the fucos. It's about sharing information with hobbiest who enjoy working or restoring military antique vechiles. Post modern as well.
I would hate to see that lost if politics and guns were allowed.
