Its been pointed out in several "rule breaking" threads, that the mods and the site owner would like us to police ourselves. Theres nothing wrong whith helping a new guy learn the ropes.
Welcome to the site, Im just down the road (sort of) from you in Manhattan.
Try this website, he's a member here and has all the manuals online. http://www.jatonkam35s.com/
All parts are readily available (especially easy if your a member here) and the a2 and a3 will take the same 8lug wheels. The a3 just has more room for HMMWV wheels but it will take a standard 8 lug that the a2 has.
Thats a downfall of deciding to change your user name without going through the admin and seeing if they will change it for you.
Edit: unless he did and they changed it and reset his post count, well then that would sucks.
Its not a 809 series 5ton for sure. I'm not sure if the older model 5tons have the front tires centered in the wheel well like that truck has. With the winches on the back like that I'm betting its a 10ton.
If the price is right you could probably buy it and flip it. 10tons are getting rare.
Its the other way around. Thats what makes the sprauge engage. In the mud, if the front gets mired down and the rears start to spin faster than the front the sprauge will catch and spin the fronts.
If the tires are bigger in the front they would be turning slower than the rears and the t-case would try to engage the fronts.
Edit: If they are considerably bigger.
:ditto: Those were built for light weight mud/rockcrawlers that have rockwells under them. You'd have to be a complete idiot to put them under a 13,000 pound deuce. (some peoples kids :-?, what can you do about them)
Never pass up an opportunity to buy tools!:-P
If you can afford to buy the right tool, do it, you'll use it again. If you can't then yes, screw drivers and picks will work. (they will cause more cussing though.
I was going to set one at the end of my driveway for the kids to sit in while waiting for the school bus. Notice I said was, once it went past my max ($150) I was out.
