I have an MEP-003A and it came with the aux fuel line and fitting for a 5-gallon GI fuel can or for a 55-gallon drum. There is no provision for a return. I have never attached the aux line and tried it, but I think I'll hook it up and see how it works. I looked in TM 5-6115-585-12 and found the...
I have exactly the same issue. Often, I am signed off while writing a post if it is longer than a few lines. I am always having to sign back in. Checking the remember me box didn't seem to make any difference.
I ran into a guy one time a year or so ago that had acquired several large Ni-Cad aircraft batteries which he was using to store power from a wind turbine and solar panels. He told me he got them in Canada from some supply house that sold used aircraft parts. I do remember he said that the...
I would highly recommend using a manual transfer switch to switch from commercial power to the generator. That way it is impossible to have a problem with feeding back up the line. Also, if you are not using the ground for your house back to the generator, you will need to ground the...
I would suspect that you still have some air in the lines. Make certain that you bleed the fuel system and remove all air. The fact that it ran for ~10 seconds or so would indicate to me that the IP is working and the fuel pump as well. With new filters, clean tank and new fuel you have...
Nice looking Deuce, congratulations! Do you have the VIN number and the registration number? The last two digits on the registration number are the year of manufacture. It is likely that your registration number is stenciled on the inside of the door panels. You can also find the VIN and...
Ditto on what Doghead said - he is dead on. As Doghead mentioned, do not try to start the Deuce - only charge the batteries one at a time with the jumper cables.
I have a suggestion on how to prevent leaving the ACC switch on by accident. Get in the habit of turning the ACC switch, heater...
I have an MEP-003A and I love it. I have 400-amp service in my house and I purchased a 400-amp four pole manual transfer switch manufactured by Square D on e-pay, new in the box. For heat and cooling I have a 5 Ton WaterFurnace EnoVision geothermal ground loop heat pump with a de-superheater for...
You mentioned that the winch had a failed shear pin. I would not necessarily believe that the truck you are interested in has a working winch. I would make him install a new correct aluminum shear pin and demonstrate that the winch works, before you purchase. Make sure the correct pin is...
Ditto on both points. If you leave it open to the air, things start to grow, and it will plug up your fuel system very quick. From my experience, once diesel has gone bad in a vehicle it is very difficult to keep the system clean.
I should have put something out on SS. I'll do it next year. The parade organizers really liked my Deuce in the parade and I know they would like more MVs.
I used two Exide Orbital batteries. When I picked up my MEP-003A it didn't have 6TLs, it had two military Optima batteries, which were shot. All of the other MEP-003A gensets at Fort Jackson when I picked up also had Optimas installed, or at least the ones with batteries did. The Exides fit...
It's double wall. The inner is stainless steel, 400 gallons. You can tell the stainless tanks by the fact that they are round. The fiberglass tanks are oval shaped. I understand that all M149A2s are stainless and that the M149A1s are fibreglass. I think the original M149s were all aluminum.
I took the sneaky route, which back-fired. I didn't even mention wanting a Deuce to the wife. I contacted State Farm for an insurance quote for a Deuce, and asked the woman agent to not call the house. Unfortunately, as soon as I got home from work the next day, my wife had the quote written...
I drove my Deuce in the Georgia Mountain Fair Parade on Saturday July 24 in Hiawassee, Georgia. The parade lasted an hour and a half and the temperature was VERY hot. Although the fair is timed with the start of the Georgia Mountain Fair, it is mostly a delayed July 4th parade. We had a great...
