Might be looking to start over- built 3208T-deuce thoughts

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Might be looking to start over- built 32 I hate to even suggest another power plant but what about a DT466? They're in a ton of trucks, been around for like two decades in all different configurations, and are in-chassis rebuildable. About the only thing that concerns me...

When I have some funds to play with again--- I'll still keep picking and collecting though.

    big winch

This is a pic I found of my truck doing a search of the site- http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=4203

    big winch

I have one of the PTO style 20,000 5 ton truck Garwoods on the nose of my duece. These winches are VERY large and make the deuce 10K winch look on the small side. Because of my V8 CAT engine swap that is a shorter in length than the multifuel engines I was able to move the winch into the...

    Locker location

I have Selectros on my Rockwell'd M715 and that truck could easily get by with drive flanges since it's off road only and has Detroits already. I have a spare Detroit too and at some point will put that stuff into the front axle so when I need it...it will be there and should help a bit...

What is this 'torqued' word? My air gun does that right? .......kidding

    Big Dumb Trailer ...more pics

The problem with building in a disconnect on the truck is that there's really no extra room to spare. Take a look at the real distance from the rear axle's rearward pinion flange then figure a U-joint, shaft w/slipyoke, then to another U-joint a pillow block under pintle. Yep...t'would be nice...

    something new for my deuce

The idea (when/if money for fun comes about again) would be to only use the trailer drive off road. Idea some of you have about pillow blocking under the pintle is pretty close. That's the way it would be designed though it needs a decent abount of slip travel in the/a yoke since it's travel...

Mating a Spicer 3053 to SBC

I supplied the bell and a lot of info for that JP article. You have several options with mech, hyd or pass side t/o arm locations as all those bell designs exist...if you happen to need it. You'll also need to bush the input shaft of the 3053 up to fit the bearing in the large flywheel center...

    Need a PTO for M35A2

RE: Re: Need a PTO for M35A2 PTO Hydraulic . com is a good place to look for ideas on pumps. Do yourself a favor and don't bother to hunt for a civvy PTO to fit on the deuce tranny. I did this and searched everywhere only to find one that was *close* and had just slightly different helix on...

    Cutting Dropside

Thanks fellas, it is good to be back although it's still only here and there- I'll definately post more pics when I have them or when it's on the truck. I had access to a dump type box that a friend of mine who's since passed away had built. Thought hard about that but just thought the...

    Cutting Dropside

I've decided to shorten my dropside bed and put it behind the crane on my deuce. It's going to be 8'-1/2" inside. Here's a couple pics of the first side cut down. It'll be a while as I'm just picking at it but you get the gist of it--

detroit locker in the rear axle(s)

RE: locker conversation I'll throw my $0.02 in here. My one M715 has a pair of Rockwells and Detroit lockers AND 46" XML's with the tread blocks cut for added traction. McInfantry's M715 had 38" XL's and just a different animal all together...I say this as not to discredit in any way what he...

    Overheating

If you get the radiator redone, get them to 'band' it as well. Will keep it around and healthy for a long time.

RE: Re: RE: tgrailer HRD...but you still have tracked vehicles. :( I gained two good tanks with the donor truck. Was debating about using them or not. Was kind of figuring that since they're there, I might as well run the line to them and help with the system. I have added a 20+ gallon...

What is this 8x8 I saw on the highway?

That is the M977 light cargo unit. I just mid mounted one of those M977 cranes onto my deuce truck. If you look at the picture above again, the crane stands up on the four main hydraulic cylinders then rotates on the mount under them. Boom telescopes and has a winch for lifting loads via...

    Part # for u joints

ONLY front driveshaft and jackshaft between tandems uses 1410's. The main driveshaft from the T-case to the front tandem is larger than 1410, like 1550 or 1610. Jackshaft between tranny and T-case uses the big joints too.
