Detroit NoSPIN lockers are readily available. Many 5 tons USMC trucks had them although I think there was a work order to remove them from semi tractors.
Detroit Locker/ NoSPIN has been around for 50 years. That says alot about durability. It would be interesting to hear how Richmond could engineer out the peculiarities of the NoSPIN. The selectable locker sounds appealing but we all know they would be much more expensive than the Detroit.
Tim, does yours have the approx 9/16" tee pins for length adjustment? I'm considering the swap since I'm out of the big trucks. I'm assuming just the bar swap, no adapters? I have one medium bar left but it doesn't have MWO collars.
I suggest the same. MY last TV bracket was red like yours. Guessing an 82 version. Wrapped up obtaining a set of ford rims as they are wider than the stock CUCV selection. My 255/85R16 tires are on the way. Looks like I'll have fresh rubber for the rally.
Color seems to be everything when crossing the southern border. For all intents and purposes, it's just a chevy truck. If you camo it you will likely get undue scrutiny. Can't speak intellengently for the other countries. Nothing in the US prevents you from driving your FMV to another country.
Consider space in the back. The boxes offer great space for tools but there is no space whatsoever in the back for a person. Are you planning to towing a trailer?
State is not exactly exact. These are rules that you agreed to upon signing up (along with no posting of th CL /Auction links). This needs to be corrected!
If I were buying a new winch for off road use, it would be a 12,000# winch. An old school 8000# Ramsey worm drive or a Warn 8274 spur drive would likely out work the newer one but at very increased current demands. I am a staunch believer in the 8274.
Pulled the transfer case out of the ambulance last Friday for a rebuild. Lots of axial play in the main shaft when I pulled it. Low and behold the case is shot. Tossed it in the can and rebuilt one of my backups. Got it hung and bolted in today. Will tidy things up in the AM...
