Well, I'd go. There were a few things I should have bought last time I was there... It was so hot that day that I wasn't thinking right.
I don't have an "in" with the fellas at that yard, Will or BigMike would have to want to go, and they were just there when I was, the Saturday before Labor...
It's also possible that it seals the rubber against ozone or other chemicals that degrade it over time...
This product is different than Armor All? Armor All makes rubber or leather harden and degrade faster, exactly opposite what the label says it will do.

Thanks David!
I thought this would be an interesting thread, because I have hundreds of pics, from the day I got the truck to present including every stage of restoration in between. It's quite a transformation!
Mark still had the goat when I was there, I got to check it out... "Want it?" he...
Here's a few more, then I gotts to go to work!
The first pic is after I hosed it off the day it came home. What a difference it made, just removing all the debris, dirt, and rat turds!
The second pic is later that same day, when I got the canvas cover installed. I removed the troop seats...
The day I looked at the truck, I knew I was going to buy it... I had cash in pocket. My girlfriend and a few of my other friends were with me... My friends wanted to check out the truck, and they were a little surprised (and amused) that I wanted to actually buy one of these things.
I gave...
Hi Group,
Here's a thread I meant to start right after I got my deuce, but I never did... Too much work to sort through and resize all the pics. But as it's restoration nears completion, here it is. Better late than never! I'll use this thread to post all pics relating to my deuce in the...
Wow, looking good again!
So the middle pic is what 10-year old Gillespie looks like? I wonder to what extent that oxidation could be 'buffed out', or have been prevented with some car wax? I know waxing an army truck seems lame, but any shine the wax may produce would be gone after a few days...
Wow, that sucks. I'm realistic enough to understand that all trucks cannot be saved, many will be scrapped and parted out. But to see what looks like an excellent example of a rare truck get ruined is sad.
I could use some parts off that, too... but I bet the auger got cut up.

Around here, it's not the sun (or lack thereof) I worry about, it's WIND. I'm in the high desert at the top of a mountain pass (Cajon Pass)... There are very few wind-free days here. A future project is to set up a wind turbine to take advantage of it. Then I'll buy (or convert) an electric...
Hi Mark,
Yes, the paint is Gillespie's 24087. I used to think it was too brown, but it looks greener in bright sunlight (pic of hood was taken on a sunny day). Also, it's a nearly perfect match for the many NOS parts I have, and other parts where I chose not to repaint - Like my instrument...
NICE! I'd love to have a compressor like those for sandblasting.
The tanks look great and are of obviously high quality, but I'd pull the inspection plugs to check for rust and then do a hydro-test before I used them. An 80 gallon tank letting go at 175 psi will cause death and destruction.
Jon
Yes, that's the thermostat, but I wouldn't pull it unless you confirm overheating. My deuce will burp up some coolant if filled all the way, too... Remember, there is no expansion tank like most cars (and trucks) have, so if you fill it completely it will certainly blow out the excess in order...
Thanks Kenny! It's nice to know that friends care. Will called me and said the group was wondering what had happened to me. At that time, I was just getting back to work on my deuce. Now I'm going full steam ahead once again, and it will be done in a few weeks.
I may not have thought MV...
