Like this? A Cole Hersee. I install them on lift gates and on trucks to prevent unauthorized use and battery drainage. Do you have your starters looked at at a starter shop? I know how to take them apart and replace parts. But when I see how they do it they hit on things I never even considered...
Say it ain't so. This can happen to any type of relay/solenoid. There is no 100% fool proof way to wire it. It happens on all makes and models. As long as 2 metal contacts make contact and form a connection you will have arc and weld. I see it in house wiring, trucks, boats, anything with a...
Are you determined to fix it to perfection? Or just get it operational? If you had a local body man hammered and work that dent out it may be less expensive then a replacement. Just a thought. Good Luck.
No I am sorry to say it will NOT. It can not be made to fit either. I had a 1/2 dozen brand new takeoffs from a RR contract we built and gave them away.
The Great M1028 Rescue
Local driver. Rich boys toy. It has been sitting in my field for about a month now. He works out of state. I never drove it or rode in it since he did the lift. Scrap as far as I am concerned at this point. Someday I picture me doing a thread on the 1985 CUCV M1028...
That is a nasty place to do a repair. But it could be done. Is this a show piece? If not fix it so the window works, sand and paint the area and drive on. After you replace the rear glass. Finding one for $75. is a good find. I don't even think I could insure a 30 year old vehicle unless I went...
One thing I've learned the hard way on everything is do it yourself because you don't need to pay someone to screw up what you can screw up just as well.
I agree. But to a point. If you do it yourself IMHO you can assure the job is done right. Do your very best to replace parts with the...
A pilot bearing/bushing goes in the end of the crankshaft and on a manual transmission the tip/shaft of the manual transmission rides in the bushing/bearing in the rear of the transmission. That is not the issue on a stock automatic transmission. That is why I said do not complicate and cloud...
Bed is back on and all body panels aligned. All body, cab and cargo bed bolts tight.
All in a nights work. Cleaned the shop and backed the truck back inside. Hope to do the paint job on Saturday. A bit of sanding and scuffing and should be on schedule. June 2017. Slow but sure. Thanks for looking.
I know all the gas engines I remove for salvage have 3 bolt torque converters. The 6.2 have 6 bolt torque converters. I am NOT an expert but have removed a fair share of engines. Gasoline small and big blocks and many 6.2 and 5.7 GM diesels in my time. What would decide if a flexplate/torque...
Funny you should mention it. I was going to post that today. Saturday October 21,2017 will be the date to go off road at Rausch Creek Off Road Park. No special rules and no sign up sheet or pre planning. Just show up Saturday and we will be wheeling at 0800- 0900. As long as 2 people show up we...
I would pull the engine anyway. It makes the whole job easier and you can go wild and change everything while you have it out. It is always less expensive and trouble free to do the job right the first time. More work? But once and done. Get an eyeball on everything. It's a simple task.
Yes all was well with the stashed M1009. After 8 years in storage in cranked up.It is as I left it. 52 K miles and needs a minimum of body work. Great candidate for the chop top. 1 minor set back. This was a re-cored Harrison radiator I had fixed 8 years ago. Scrap. Autozone still has my...
Lets not complicate the issue. If it is bolted to a diesel torque converter it has to be a diesel flex plate. And if he manually engaged the starter drive gear into the flex-plate teeth and it fit. It will fit no matter how many teeth it has. I am all for firing it up. Be careful.
Not sure why the BMW picture is there. But a word to the wise. do NOT buy BMW's. It was a trade and I practically got it for nothing. It was the biggest PITA i ever had. it took a prayer meeting to get a starter on it. That is about all I will say about that. It did sell and show a profit. It was...
More progress
While others sat around complaining all day. My Son and I got busy on the M1008 project. Then we went over to the farm and snooped around in the lower barn to look at our up and coming project. I will start another post on that when the time comes. This is the day it left and it...
1985 CUCV M1028 I owned it for 18 years SOLD 4 years ago
It's back. I had nothing to do with the lift kit or the lift kit installation. But I sold the truck 4 years ago so I have no say in how it is treated or modified. When I was ask what to do to make it look BA. I replied get a set of...
Line on line always worked for me forever and today. I have truck with over 200K on them pushing snow. I am not sure how to tell the difference unless I have a brand new 6.2 CUCV to compare it to. Our 1/2 ton Silverado with a 4.3 has more power then the 6.2 in the M1009. But side by side they...
