These days 2500 for a running, driving and kinda stopping Deuce is very very reasonable. Clearly, you are buying a project and can budget approximately the purchase price or close to it in parts to get her truly safe and roadworthy. It's a bonus when, as you methodically check the systems over...
That's all nice and stuff, but the MAIN thing is that the CAT approved!
Seriously, this seems to be coming together nicely and looks sharp.

It seems the jw speaker lights, heated, are the gold standard.
I, too had bad experiences with Trucklite and it may be that the design or quality itself is sub par or that unscrupulous vendors sell batches of lights made for but rejected by the military.
I decided to keep more of my money...
I have seen 85W140 recommended for the axles to reduce the likelihood of leaks. I am not sure it would be great in the Spicer transmission when the temperatures dip. The manufacturer of said transmission recommended 30 or 40 weight engine oil which translates well to 80/90 gear oil. I do not...
You can't know until you check. A new OEM head with valves is still available and a lot cheaper than a new motor. If you just need a new valve, I got some clean spares. Pushrods and tappets are readily available.

Pages 1-18 and1-21 have the drawings for the governor. I suspect that the engine can overspeed if the fuel control rod is incorrectly installed and won't move.
As for the dead hole: Not saying you ought to do it that way, but I put on...
As for the air pressure activated brake light switch, the NAPA run-of-the-mill cheapies work fine as well. You may have to make two short connector cables because the civilian switches tend to have two clamps only, but that's about it. Opening pressure is about 6 psi on the air switch.

I route mine over and behind the front axle. The reasoning is that I want to keep the hose away from the spinning top loader pinion yoke, don't want the top of the axle slobbered on and don't want to see the hose from the front. I used a corrugated 1in discharge hose for a sump pump.

Please keep us updated on how this plays out. Fortunately, MV accidents are rare and it helps other members to see what happens when it happens.

Not sure what exactly you are asking. The hydraulic pressure in the master cylinder that you operate with your foot is used to both activate an air valve in the air hydraulic "air pack" that then assists in moving the hydraulic slave brake cylinder of the air pack AND the MC hydraulic pressure...
Stared at the coolant dripping..no, running, from the rad support and disappearing in the sand. Maybe one of the rad solder repairs finally gave out. Maybe a hose. I have a spare radiator. Maybe time to replace it....I will find out. WHY DID I HAVE TO SAY OUT LOUD TO MY WIFE ONLY YESTERDAY THAT...
Glad you are ok and nobody got hurt. That's probably the most important part.
As for the steel soldier combat casualty:
What you do not see, yet, without disassembly is what else took a hit. Steering knuckle? Pitman arm? Front axle shaft on this side (if the axle shaft got knocked, is the...
