I'm 21,000 lbs and running 3.90's, ECO hubs, and 370/931 tune. I typically run 65 to 75 mph on the highway and usually I just pin it from every stop. I own and operate a performance shop with an in-ground DynoJet and consequently I'm no stranger to very high performance vehicles and I don't...
There's a new versions of the disconnect relay. It's totally enclosed and much more reliable. Bussmann makes them now:

The original one's have multiple problems. If you have the original with all the...
You will be able to crawl as slow as you like. I have yet to reach for 1st gear so all the crawling I've done to date with the ECO hubs has been in 2nd gear at "only" 16:1. I could arrow down to 1st and be at 27:1 but I haven't found the need yet. You can move as slowly and methodically as you...
It's an interesting comparison but a bit of apples to oranges.
First - the biggest glaring difference is the power plant. The C7 in my truck makes 931 ft/lbs of torque - now that number doesn't seem impressive on the surface since the Jeep Wrangler XR with the 392 Hemi puts out 470 ft/lbs and...
You worry needlessly. @Lostchain and myself have been going off-road quite a bit. I went through a gully at the beach that was steep enough to scrape the paint off my skid plate and never even went lower than 2nd gear.
Is you truck/trailer/cargo combination in the realm of ~100,000 lbs? If it...
Also - being a lifelong mechanic and performance shop owner - Dorman makes Chinese TRASH in general.
Acela has their custom FMTV steering wheels made by IMMI:
https://www.imminet.com/products/steering-wheels/
I don't see any military truck serial numbers that I recognize in that list with the possible exception of the RMF1-up serial prefix which is a 370 HP engine used in the M-ATV and not applicable to anything this forum is ever likely to encounter.
LMTV and FMTV C7 serials are typically FML or...

I don't see any for sale on their own. You can buy a used steering wheel - they come attached to the wheel:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/325515612201
I've never had an issue with my factory wheel though. Again - Army truck not a mall crawler. You got girly hands or sompthin?
They'll be more. They are actually part of the BII (basic issues items) of every FMTV so they aren't uncommon. The government pays $25 for that part so anyone asking $125 is just a scalper. Not that hard to make one either. Anyone looking for one should save the NSN and setup an eBay alert for...
My steel rims are powder coated. I doubt you'll have a problem but also just forget about keeping the powder coating perfect anyway - it's going to be GONE around the lug nuts in a hot minute and the wheel half bolts cause damage when installing tires.... powder coating helps to make them easier...
They are Milgard Trinsic double-awning windows with Z-bar mounting:
https://www.milgard.com/windows/V300/awning
They have to be special ordered in the required size, color and mounting - 6 weeks for manufacturing. Actually made not far from me in Oregon. They are not cheap. But - buy once, cry...
Goodyear and Michelin make brand new tires - the Goodyear MV/T and the Michelin XZL. The military uses them widely. You just need to find someone that can and is willing to order them. One of the guys I just did an ECO hub install got a new set through a family connection that owned a tire shop...
No - but all you need is 4 wires and some connectors in principle. This page has the J1708 pinout:
https://www.diesellaptops.com/blogs/news/troubleshooting-j1708-connections
Then you need an RP1210 compliant adapter such as the Dearborn Protocol Adapter III or IV. Laptop and software.
Swapping out my small windows for something more suitable to it's new life. Got the door window installed and the passenger side wall upgraded. I'll be masking the glass and going over the outside with CARC so they look factory. Might figure out some drop down canvas covers for them as well.
Nope. ABS, if equipped (A1+) is behind the cab by the hydraulic air pump.
Passenger under dash area lives the TCM, PCU, and the solenoids for radiator fan clutch and power divider.

I'm running one of these units but I got it off ali-express for about $450 shipped - about twice the lead time due to slower shipping. Same thing though. Actually works pretty good. Have to crimp your own...
