do you get any smell of a dragging brake? you will normally smell a brake that is dragging. heck it might be quicker to just jack up the wheels and turn them by hand.
no timer. 1 12V wire from pos terminal of 1 battery to the switch on dash. then a wire going to the light on dash and the plug on the intake manifold.
read the data plate on the dash for proper operation of the cold start system. light should come on as soon as you turn the switch. it's...
a pair of locking hubs would prob run you about a grand, welding might be about a hundred. then your out a set of gaskets. cheap mans lockers and there are no drawbacks. you can either have fully locked or 1 wheel drive like you have now.
you guys sure about that? most every truck there looked like scrap to me. maybe I didn't see your particular truck as there are hundreds there to look at.
I can do it as I just picked up 2 818's there last week. but it's a 850 mile trip for me. so it would cost you about 1700. I'm sure you can find somebody closer. it's only 200 miles so I'm sure somebody in the swamp can run up there and get them for you much cheaper.
it can be done from the top but for me I like removing the trans to work on it. You get better access and it gives you a chance to look at your clutch and press plate and do some other work that it might need while it's out.
this is my heater's fuel pump. But there are things like mounting location that just isn't perfectly clear.
this pic shows a rib on the front from R to L.
mine has a rib on the back of the panel from R to L. opposite in every way.
my tm is the 260-20 from 1981.
your pics show the 1 fuel pump and thats right but my blueprints show it being mounted in the fender area behind the RF tire. I've also seen it there one 1 truck many years ago. but the first pic you show is very helpful. I did see it in the TM's but yours is much clearer. thanks.
now that...
Full arctic kit on 809 w pics.
I'm in the process of installing the fuel fired heater on the 818. the instructions aren't so much instructions as they are blueprints, so many of the small details like placement and such are just not there.
also other things like where to run the fuel lines...
you might get lucky and wash the xcase out with a mix of diesel and get the sprag to start working. I've heard of ppl with very bad gear oil not letting the sprag do it's thing.
