RE: Driving my M35 home from GL... Susanville CA thru Bend,
The lonely part of my trip will be from Susanville to Klamath Falls mostly on 139. There is a shortcut through Beiber that saves probably an hour in a Deuce. The bad part is there is probably only one gas station on that 150 mile run...
Some of you will think I'm crazy, but I'm planning to drive my new purchase the 700 miles home. I'll probably be alone on this trip, so the new deuce will be towing my M1009 back. There are some very remote stretches on this route but its much shorter than running up I-5.(I still may opt for...
I haven't ever towed a deuce, but I have had the problem with the towed vehicles wheels turning the wrong way on a 90 degree turn. To avoid that from happening don't start your turn until your towed vehicle is moving. I have had them go the wrong way a number of times if I start the turn too...
Were any made this way or would it have gone through a rebuild and come out like this. There's one on GL now, but no picture. Says its a 1993 AM General.
Am I correct to expect that they won't rust from the inside with the silicone BF, but rust from the outside, so a good visual inspection that shows no rust is whats needed?
Thanks,
Greg
RE: unit
I tried Napa they can order it, they will call me back with the price. I'm not sure what the original looks like. I got the truck without the tank. I only see one wire on my truck, but there are 3 hose connections. I was thinking I could get one from someone parting out a truck.
Thanks...
The timeline for mine went... submitted 1/30, revised 2/6, sent to battle creek 2/19, and got my invoice today 3/25. This wasn't for a vehicle, just some heaters. This was my 1st one so I don't know if it will take longer for the deuce I bought. That one is in battle creek now.
Greg
Thanks Gary, The reality now is what I've got to do to get it home. I've got a 700+ mile trip (one way) ahead of me. The 1st concern may be to get it off the base. Especially if I have any trouble getting time off work. I wonder if that 2 week requiremant for removal is strictly enforced there...
Can anybody do it for me if I need it? Can you make a recommendation of someone in the area? My EUC was just sent in, so it will probably be awhile.
Thanks,
Greg
Does it matter what your EUC is for? I have a EUC in on some heaters and wonder if a truck EUC would take longer. I also got a letter from Battle creek reminding me of my export requirements etc. Can that mean that I'm getting close? This is my first one.
I'm confused, if a fusable link is toast and it causes the #2 light to burn will the alternator still charge? I thought that the reason the light came on in the first place was because the alt was not operating. I will check voltage tomorrow.
Thanks
I wish I could do less fixing and more driving! Latest problem is the #2 gen light came on bright while driving and doesn't go out. I read on another post that it could be a fuseable link that is the cause. Now to replace that link. If it connects to the firewall near the glow plug relay do you...
Catlett, Was that 31 gal tank steel or plastic? I can't find anything out here in oregon over 20 gal and thats steel. I've called napa, and baxters 2 radiator shops, 3 wrecking yards and a chev dealership. You'll be happy to hear the tank is still available from GM at only $398.10. I haven't...
My truck also needs a new tank. The old one is out and it looks very shiny inside except for only a couple rust spots about the size of a quarter. The one directly below the sending unit hole has a pin hole. I'm looking for a new tank that is bigger than the stock one, but will accept the same...
