LAX,
I've only looked at tires that would fit 22.5 inch wheels. I may be incorrect, but the only ZXL I've seen are sold on GL and they are for 20 inch wheels.
But again, someone else here I think actually runs ZXL's so maybe they could speak to that issue.
Like I said, my first goal was to go...
I looked at ALL the tire makers for the commercial truck tires. This was just about the most aggressive you can go. I THINK Michelin makes one or two others, but MOST of my time will be spent on pavement, not off.
So while there MAY be others. The XDY3 is similar in design with an agressive...
Ctr to Ctr is 69 inches. Tires pressure is 90 psi. And after going for a drive, she steers MUCH better (almost like ps) and seems to be very happy with the choice of tires, especially the radial part.
The reason why I went with the XDY series is because I LIKE the agressive tread pattern...
Ok, as promised, here are three pix of my trucks new Michelin XDY 11R22.5 tires. These are on normal (no split rim) 22.5 bud wheels. The two fronts are XDY-2's and the four rears are XDY-1's (retreads on virgin casing).
Sorry for the quality, I'll try and take some better ones tomorrow.
DR...
I went over to see "The Deuce Doctor" (RandyLBarnes - sorry dude, but you're stuck with it) and he had the remains of a deuce that he'd purchased as a parts truck. It has the filter base intact, though the upper filters are missing, still attached to the engine.
As he was showing me what was...
Lee,
I can help. Well, kind of. I have nine of the metal portion of the bows. You would have to add the wooden or fiberglass staves, but at least I can get you that far.
IF no one else steps up, send me a pm and we can work something out. You will be better off with a complete set, rather...
That was an EXCELLENT weekend adventure. You took your family, right? So, now that the wife has experienced a break down AND recovery, you have a very short window of opportunity...
Nows your chance!! Convert over to power steering. "But HONEY, it was only an extra $$$, and now even YOU can...
While the air assit kits are nice, they are nothing compared to REAL power steering. And the conversion is NOT that difficult. Gringeltaube (Gerhard) has done one and posted the process with pix AND the overall results.
Here's that thread -...
Doc,
Yeah, but other than those FOUR THINGS, nice rig, right?
And are you ABSOLUTELY SURE the driver is a girl? Might be 'one of those kind' of guys. You know, the ones who LIKE girls like his passenger! The kind with large head lights...
That's the type of truck I'd like to build and enter...
Glenn,
We gotta get together again. Sooner rather than later. THIS TIME, no working on the truck.
Just bring the girlfriend over and we'll eat. Fish & chips, or surf & turf kabobs, or steaks and corn, whatever.
We GOTTA get Randy and Robert here also, with their families if at all possible...
Mike,
Are you saying that WHEN you rebuild it you can use seals that should be able to handle either the bio or the low sulphur? It would make sense, cause otherwise we will be rebuilding them about, what, every three to five years?
jim
area52,
That's just the 'buy it now' price, which he WILL NOT see.
If you look at the ad again, there is a 'make an offer' button as well.
I expect this will go for somewhere around $8 - $12k.
He's already had one offer which was declined. This seller will learn in a hurry that this vehicle...
Djfreema,
Yep, tubeless Michelins. The 20 ton jack was killer. Did point up that I will need another set of air tanks on the truck. I've got them but the guy in NY has not sent them yet. He's the guy who also has my spare fuel tank. He's looking for someone to steam clean it and hasn't...
Ambulancechaser (and anyone else for that matter),
REGARDING YOUR 'need' to purchase a digital camera.
DO NOT BOTHER. Go out and purchase one of those disposable cameras with a flash.
Take the pictures you want to take. I always suggest taking two shots of ANYTHING that is important.
THEN...
Mike,
That's EXCELLENT NEWS! You give me hope yet that I CAN pull this off in the long run.
Now all I gotta do is sell my gasser Suburban and I'll be on my way.

Matt,
Send the pix to me and I'll resize them - turn around will be a day or so.
Yes Richard, I got yours but was WAY busy with the super single swap today. You should see the pix no later than tomorrow. I'm whupped and am going to bed pretty soon.
Tomorrow will dawn and I'll get right on...
I'm a bit out of my area here. BUT, I would think that either B100 OR home brew biodiesel would work well in a 6.2L diesel engine. I would doubt it would do as well on wvo, but can't say for sure.
I am in the process of selling my 91 Suburban and then will pick up an M1009 (with the 6.2L...
Well, the weather co-operated for almost the whole day. About threeish the clouds started to slowly roll in.
The day stared off at about 10:30 am when Glen McMillan (McMillag) got to my house after driving up from Colorado Springs. We started work almost immediately, as I had everything...

I use it in all our vehicles. Doesn't help much, but 10 - 20% makes it a little cheaper. Yes, even in the deuce.
