If you are going to be running a lot of 12V circuits then that isn't a bad way to go.
I do just want to double check, you're putting in a converter that only does 5 amps of 12V power? That isn't very much power (60 watts) so is that just for the phone charger and maybe an LED light or two or...
yeah, those are minimal loads.
If you look around though you can find 24V chargers and LEDs.
I've been using one of these, my only issue with it is the LED voltage readout is pretty bright.

Yes, you would connect to the lower battery's positive terminal and then negative would just go to ground.
You always want a fuse to protect everything, if a wire were to run through and short out the fuse keeps the wire from turning into a heating element and catching everything on fire.
And...
also to add, a lot of these tires come from the military out of round from sitting in one location for far too long. You can't eliminate the bouncy ride from out of round tires by balancing. Usually only happens to tires that had weight on them from a truck or something like that, not ones...
Yup, it's the same as adding a pinball type hitch for how everything works, it's just a single piece and heavier overall, so hopefully ends up as stronger overall.
I have a 10k rated adjustable drop hitch on order and a 12k rated 2" ball.
Next weekend everything will get a decent test when I...
So latest update having to do with the hitch assembly.
I don't know if the mount points on the frame rails are different on the M1123 I have or that their kit is messed up, but the brackets that go from the pintle diagonal forward to the frame are too long with the pintle bracket installed...
I know for me here it is just a matter of finding the right person at a tire shop. Some will try to argue that it's a split rim and unsafe for them to work on, which just proves they are ignorant. It's a 2 piece or multi piece rim, not split.
Problem with balancing is finding a shop with a big...
This one is still able to mount the original pintle above the receiver, I'm just waiting on the bracket to give me the correct thickness to mount it. As soon as it comes in (supposedly tomorrow according to freight tracking) I'll add a couple more pictures.
Yes, there are pintles that will fit...
That depends entirely on the design of the hood. If designed right there shouldn't be an issue, but often times that involves a lot of trial and error. Typically the gens I work with don't use a single point exhaust but use a long tube with lots of 1/8" or so holes in them for the length of it...
The pinball receiver would not work with my hitch, as my crossbar is one of the newer thicker ones a 2 1/4" thick, so the pintle is too short to add another 1/2" piece of metal in there ( With the safety chain eyelets, the pintle will handle 2 1/2" of mount, with the pinball I'd be at 2 3/4...
Looks okay to me.
Coming from the RV and home standby world, there is enough air moving past the fan and out of the unit that you probably could have had the exhaust dump straight into the warm airflow out of the hood without any issues, thus removing the need to keep a flapper on the exhaust at...
you would know better than me.
So is there any type of legal issue with using seats in a vehicle that aren't designed for it, or can I put a lawn chair as my driver's seat and still be fine if someone hits be and I get injured? Not trying to be sarcastic about it, I'm just wondering if there is...
One more thing to add about the hitch itself. It came with a couple holes that were too far over to mount the license plate, then has a steel plate you bolt to those holes that lowers the plate several inches and moved it over. I thought it looked stupid to be that low and offset from where...
Got the trailer light converter box in today.
So first thing I did was to disassemble the plug portion, and add a pigtail for the 12V accessory wire I was adding. There was already a pigtail for the brake line, but it was only 14 awg wire, I replaced it with the 10 awg I had run back from the...
So to look at this from a broader overall picture, yes, they work, and should be more comfy than stock.
However...
from a legal standpoint, if you are in an accident of any type, then the insurance company can pretty well deny any type of medical claims you might have, due to...
I don't see one either, but it's probably covered by all the built up dust in the second picture. First picture looks good to me.
If this truck was in the army, it would get checked off as a "class 1 leak" which is just a little bit of fluid seeping from the seal. It would just be noted on...
For oil check, pull the wheel off, then look for the plate on the side that has a bolt/plug in the middle of it. This is your fill plug, oil level should be right to the bottom edge of it. Whenever you are dealing with the hubs you want to make sure this bolt is the first one removed, because...
I started a thread on the brake controller install with pictures and links, as I figured you aren't the only one that's ever wondered and it's easier to find projects when they have their own threads.
