So to answer the most recent few posts,
I just want to ask for clarification. When you say you "have the neutral taped off" do you mean the neutral wire going from generator to breaker panel, or do you mean the wire/bar between the neutral lug and the ground lug? If the one between neutral...
Install all complete and fully functional.
Not the cleanest of installs. I have little interest at this time of pulling frame rails and running hard lines, so it's hoses all the sway, and one got a little close to the exhaust so the outer layer is melted a little.
I also never actually...
I played chase vehicle just in case any of the other trucks on our drive broke down.
None of them did on a 140 mile loop we drove, including a couple thousand feet of elevation change.
This is the halfway point of the convoy, in front of the little church in Elbe, WA. A couple WWII jeeps, one...
I don't know how much amperage goes through it, but the failure rate seems excessively high for what's basically a very simple switch.
I don't know whether the ones made in China (which it seems pretty much all of them are) just suffer from poor materials or craftsmanship, or they just can't...
Sorry no pictures, but I was driving at the time.
Got passed by 8-10 HMMWVs, each with a single soldier in them driving. All appeared to be brand new, none of them had a top or doors, but had a long box strapped to the rear area that looked to be the right size for a 4 man soft top. A less...
at minimum batteries need hooked up to tender, but even better would be remove them and store them in a heated garage so they have no chance of freezing.
Right, so another update to my original order.
Today I received a UPS package for the right side mirror assembly.
Only issue with this is I received my order for a right hand mirror assembly over a week ago. It appears they shipped me a second on.
I sent Greg Proven (the guy who originally...
To touch on this, I was just as someone's house a couple weeks ago with one of these trailers he towed with a 5 ton. He showed me the tire that had been on the front corner that had tread chunks ripped out from coming into contact with the 5 ton.
His solution to that was to have a longer...
To get it to tow properly behind an F350 you'd need to move the trailer axles forward quite a bit in order to balance out the load. Add to that a trailer brake conversion. Then add to those the fact that the bumper hitch tow rating of the F350 is lower than the weight of the trailer empty, you...
Actually, it wasn't too bad. First time I did it with badly out of round tires it was pretty bad, but now with nearly round tires and centramatics it's not bad.
I'm an M1123, so it's the 4 speed.
I hit speeds as much as 65 or 70 for short periods, but mostly I cruised at 60 mph, even in the 70 zone. I wasn't in a particular hurry to actually get home (it's just over an hour in my car anyway).
The worst tank of fuel I saw in this truck (about 9mpg)...
To do an answer from my experience for the whole " It runs 30 min then quits every time maybe the tanks not vented and cant draw fuel after a certain pressure is reached 30 min worth ?? "
If it's going to have a tank venting issue like this, then it's not going to be up and running again after...
I don't think the BEOD has an alphanumeric code for it, there isn't one on the data plate. BEOD = Body, Explosive Ordnance Disposal. They are only used with Army heavy variant HMMWV (M1097 series specifically) so a separate code isn't necessary like the S250 or S788 that can be set up several...
gah, this is just one of the many issues with the English language.
No, I'm not a killer whale, but my coworker in the Army practically was, his last name was only one letter off from a famous Orca whale, so he got called that from time to time.
There is no "correct antenna" specific to a model number, they were set up according to the specific mission they were being tasked for.
As time passes the equipment also changes.
Is your goal just to make it look cool with some antennas on it, or do you have specific radio equipment you would...
I used the bucket of a tractor.
I figure gravity should help with getting it down.
Other method I've used though is lawnmower ramps. One to the front of the hood, then the other up to the rack. Even with as heavy as they are, it's not that bad to roll them up (if you're young enough/dumb...
Was on the way back from a local FMTV roundup (other military vehicles welcomed to come, I was the only non-FMTV/LMTV though) and decided to take it across the scales. Local State Patrol turns the computer screen around when the scale is shut down so anyone can weigh their trucks)
So weight...
So the HMMWV uses lug centric rims, those H2 rims look hub centric (I think the H1 was also hub centric, the flat lug seating area is why I say this)) so you'd have to find a lug centric to hub centric spacer to make them work. Issue here is that yes, you'd end up with them spaced out a bit...
