RE: Air escaping from under the rood Air governer. They are way simple. Alot of times, if things sit, you can give it a squirt or two at both lines going into the governer with marvel mystery or an equivilant air up and give it a few love taps and it will free up

No 12V71, way too big and heavy for the 2 1/2 ton truck. Maybe the 6V71, but you'd need to re locate the trans/t-case, forward to make room for the exhaust. Now the 6- 53 or 71 inline might be a better fit. The trans could stay in the same place, just gotta get a bigger cooling package. The 2...

vlmuke, not trying to jack your thread, but, is the overflow valve on these pumps just a 30 PSI or so check valve? If anyone knows what the pop off is, i'd be curious. If it runs ok AFTER the ugly metal to metal noise, most likely nuthin wrong with the engine. I'd say a starter issue too. Remember, GM products are good for starter problems.
