Yep, It origionally came from around Minneapolis MN. It went all the way to south Florida. Now it's parked in WI about 2 hours from it's origional location along with the M48. It now has all the extra parts bolted back on and is now "complete" and has new tires too. Hopefully it can make it out...

This would be the easiest and cheapest route. I think a four point cage in the cab, heavily tied to the floor and not the frame would work the best. Remember there are only 4 bolts that mount the cab to the frame and they pass through sheetmetal. Just ensure the "capsule" retains it's integrity...
The ones i've seen that had the plate were flat, the roof isn't exactly flat. Wreckerman had one that used a cut off 55 gallon drum that had the base cut 2" or so up and bent over and riveted to the top.
