I put alot of thought into this for mine. One option, would be to find a civvy panel, with gauges. You could modify the layout of the panel, so that it mates up with the wiring on the CUCV. This would have the nicest look to it.

I havent had any ill effects from not using the stop tabs.... Matter of fact, I intend to take them off at least one of the poles, as I am going to turn it so it points 'in'. I am also planning on the cage you speak of. Just trying to decide how I want to do it effectively.

On the convoy lights... you might consider lowering the poles where they clamp to the cab. I have mine set so the bottom of the lights is about even with the top of the cab canvas. This keeps them lower for protection, and you can still raise them up if need be.
There is something with the 'cookies' that I have never been able to figure out. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesnt.
It must depend on who bakes them, and what flavor they are :-D
Given the number of fuse panels i have seen that are melted around the headlight fuse, I suspect its a wiring design on the CUCV. They do send every bit of electricity for the Blackout system through that fuse.

What in the world are you talking about? Every vehicle I have EVER popstarted, you have to put in HIGH gear in order to have enough leverage to turn the engine. The reason you could pop it in 2nd when it stalled in 5th, is because you had the right amount of momentum...
