This is an interesting picture. It is a German HANOMAG 18t half track, version 9 (with rear mounted crane, for tank maintenance units. 6t or 10t version, I cannot tell). It's an LDS, I installed the 12 point upgraded rod bolts, stock max RPM is 2800 and mine has the governor turned DOWN to allow 2400 RPM max. If it still throws a rod, I can't help it.

You could remove the short propeller shaft between the rear axles so that they can turn independently. That might help in determining which chunk needs help. Ideally, you can lift up the rear end, but reinstalling the half shafts (drive axles) and repeating your "tug test" will work, too...
