Welcome! As for the engine, they all have a variant of the LDT-465 multifuel engine. A screaming "C" turbo or a more efficient "D" turbo are personal preferences rather than real-world differences. Do not confuse a "C" or "D" on the engine's data plate (e.g. LDT-465-1C) with the type of turbo...
Put the filters on and once you have everything together, switch on the in tank pump. Let it run for a solid two minutes or so. This will pump fuel all the way to the injection pump and fill all the filters. Then hit the start button. It should fire up nicely.
Hm. Thoughts that come to mind:
- 194g is a LOT of aluminum to lose. Aluminum weighs about 40g per tblsp. Does your new piston have longer piston skirts?
- weigh an undamaged piston (to eliminate the guess work around how much material might be missing); scratch that, weigh them all! How...

An LDS with the 5th gear overdrive is an unbeatable combination. I am always surprised, still, how well it pulls on grades where it ought to slow down!

From the diagram labels it appears that the pistons without the oil passage were used in production engines and the (later) model pistons with oil passage as replacements.
This would suggest that they are interchangeable.
The bottom of the piston is still oil cooled via the jet.

I have an LDS with the one hole injectors and Menaces' description is bang on.
Smokes at idle and runs ...umm...clean-ish under load.
