Umm, yes, that is the entire point of this thread that I am indeed going to make sure that I have brakes that function fully and to do this it would involve changing out the brakes, which will very likely cost the big bucks. I'm just seeing if I am overlooking anything major somehow with all...
probably not.
The Duramax is a 12V engine, and aren't all the HMMWV gauges 24V? I know some go by straight resistance, but I'd imagine it still won't be as simple as plug and play.
Yes, I definitely agree, it's physically doable, but definitely not ideal. I'd much rather do it the right way and get full usability from it, rather than do it "just enough" to make me the first one at the scene of the accident.
I've backed a few of the 1022s when I was in the military in the motor pool, but only because nobody else could. (would love to have a 1022, but that's definitely above my tow ratings)
Also done A trains when I was getting my CDL back in the day. If I really get into a place I can't handle...
Looks like an M103/105 series trailer. with flatbed I usually saw them used for generators, but could also be cargo.
Whether it's worth 500 depends on you. It's an air brake trailer (I can't see if this one has them, I'm not really up to speed on this series so don't know if the early ones...
How heavy either one of them is depends on what I'm doing. This is the main reason for making sure the M720 would have modern brakes all around if possible
If I use the HMMWV I'm rated to tow 4200 lbs. My truck currently weighs about 8k lbs with the BEOD on the back and basic gear I carry...
I've looked and looked. There is nothing modern that matches the spindle design, and nothing that bolts to the backing plate mount.
The current ring for the backing plate has 6 holes in it. All modern backing plates are 4 bolt for 3500 lb and less, and 5 bolt for larger than that.
The...
looked up the parts I'd need for the spindle conversion. Looks like for cheap parts it would be about $1k before the welding. Using Dexter EZ-lube parts (which I like) would be a few hundred bit more. After I have the dolly in my posession I'll take off the relevant parts and talk to some...
The main issue with this is I would be limited to a single tow vehicle.
I have my HMMWV, and a Ford F450 that I own that can tow this. I also have an F350 available as well, then a dozen other potential trucks to tow it with if those all fail for some reason.
I agree, just adding an air...
So I'm currently buying an M720 shelter dolly. I've been reading up, and can't find anywhere that anyone that has done an electric brake conversion with one of these.
I do not have an air brake capable vehicle to tow it with, so looking at what are my possible options.
it looks like there are...
For the 101A2 the hmmwv rims and tires sit in a little too far, and you are very likely to be rubbing the tire on the parking brake cable due to the 8" offset on the rims.
For the original question, if your rims are only 4" offset then I see no reason why they shouldn't fit, provided you don't...
usually if it just needs a field flash, then you'll be down in the 2-5VAC range, at least that is my experience with other brands of generators.
I have little experience with the gen you are asking about, but my first places to check on any unit not producing electricity are voltage at all the...
I don't know, but hopefully someone with some experience using it will chime in, or they might have mentioned it in another thread.
If nothing else you can check the manufacturer's website for what prep is required.
My understanding is they have several varieties. One for heat, one for sound...
ear muffs.

I think I paid about $110 earlier this year on ebay. Batteries last a long time, I listen to books when I drive, and when...
So latest update:
As of this point I have received only one part of the 5 that I ordered. Apparently any item made up of multiple components may not actually be in their inventory at this point, and you will have to wait for it to be manufactured.
I cancelled 2 of the items because one of...
I'd imagine that with a solid roof you can use a standard B pillar instead of the turret setup, and turning around and selling the turret roof and supports might even turn a profit.
There is a decently hefty piece of ABS plastic that bolts to the bottom of the condenser. Looks like it's designed to be able to bolt to armor pieces or something to the front and rear, but isn't required to in order to be protected.
From the shape of it I might have to clean it out once in a...
