RE: Re: RE: 1st Time Painter - How do I Thin Gillespie Paint
C'dub
I was using a Synthetic hardner ( Martin Senour 8870) that really thickened up the mix to where I reduced 2 parts paint to 1 part reducer., If I didn't use the hardner I could have reduced aprox 3 parts paint to 1 part reducer...
You THIN lacquer you REDUCE enamel
Read the back of the can
When I shot my 37 I reduced my Gilliespie with Naptha and I also used Xzylene when I did my deuce, both can be gotten from Homedepot. You don't need to use the expensive automotive paint reducers as Gillespie ( and Arevoe ) are...
You'll still need to thin it
Its been a few years since I read the back of a gallon can of Gillespie but my old cans stated that when using a paint brush thin with mineral spirits which dries slower then the other ( recomended reducers ) so it gives it more time for the brush/roller marks to...

"He did get me started in the MV truck hobby in the first place!"
Yeah! Yeah!, another kid blaming his parents for his addiction tsk tsk tsk
Engines don't get as hot as the exhaust pipes do. I painted my 230 with Gilliespie 24087 and used a synthetic hardner, the only places I had a problem with was where the intake bolts upto the exhaust manifold ( little peeling ) and my stat housing faded/flattened just a touch

The dash looks identical to the picture I have of early WC ( Dodge Mil Vehicles Collection 1) BUT I now noticed that DM's Dodge has hanging pedals where the WC has floor mountd ones which is strange because if I remember right even PWs have floor pedals Hmmmm
Yes it a WC 1/2ton closed cab ( as mentioned ) and its original WC closed cab not a PW cab change over ( PW cabs have only about 2" of sheet metal space between the door theshold and the running board whereas WC's have about 6-7"of metal) The WC in the DM's pic is military as it still has the...
Winter cranking or tired engine is where you'll need amps., My buddy in So.Fla has several DOZEN military vehicles and can't keep up with batts so he made a remote batt pack of 2, 12v garden tractor ( mower) batts run in series to a slave connector ( both batts fit in a single 12v marine batt...

If I remember right ( I'm to lazy to go out and check) There's a fuse by the regulator which is mounted on the blower shroud right next to the oil filter.
I have a piece of one of those P-38's that was lost on Greenland ( 2 P-38's & 1 B-17). Another sad part of the Kee Bird was where it burned, it was taxing over a frozon lake when the fire started, that lake would thaw in the summer months, so everything including the ( rebuilt) engines went to...
Thanks Guys
OK
It was only 50 miles away
The inside is very clean original paint, outside needs sandblasting badly
We bartered but price came out to about $375.00 in goods and cash., probably a little high ( IMO ) but it was local and Tool trailers are scarce to come by
As I understand it 7.0 is neutral Ph, anything below that is acidic and anything above it is Alkaline., Is there a different scale with coolant. I also thought that to bring Ph in you coolant up you add more SCA
When I put the pto on my M-37 I used pto gasket(s) left over from my pto install on my 1995 F-800. As mentioned go to any driveline shop, the pto bolt pattern is standard with the exception of bolt hole diameter.
P.S.Adirondak Dodge carries PTO gasket kits ( under M-37 winch parts )...
