The black smoke was from a ( fuel) rich mixture, a turbo pumps in more air for better burn ( less smoke) which in turn give better performance and better mpg. Two hole injectors are suppose to give better atomization of the fuel which also help with a better burn. You can turn the pump up...
Dimmer switch: HI/LO beam switch on the floor. Turn your light switch on to Service Drive and see if you have power going to the dimmer hi/lo switch (#16)
If you still have tail/brake lights then I'd look at the dimmer switch., Check to make sure you have power to it (#16 wire) if so then I'd say the (dimmer) switch is bad.

Cabell and Brandon got here about 5:45pm we did all the salutations then finished prepping the 54A1. Cabell said they were a little delayed picking up his 5 Ton at Ft Gillam and getting it running but said it ran great the 45 miles down to my place. They tow barred the 54 up to Cabells...
It is to my understanding that 686 is the current tan used in the middle east. The Rover in my Avatar is gov surplus 686 single part carc ( click below ), which is the color I was leaning towards for my deuce until I saw a M-37 ( on E-bay) painted in Military Earth yellow ( darker )...

Brakes work, air to trans is disconnected and plugged, spare parts are loaded in the bed ( for 3 months now), am going to check/fill diffs and charge up the camera...
Thats a micro-bond filter element
My M-37 and my M-38 had this type filter element mounted on the pickup tube in the fuel tank. They were also in other M-series. It has a 30-40 micron rating and resistant to passing water, they don't have much of filter surface area so they clog quicker than...
As stated above or any Injector rebuild shop can get them as they are Bosh nozzles. I had mine done by the injector shop across the street from my werehouse. They take a beating from heat being on a aircooled unit, at least thats what the tech at the shop said. The civie version of this genset...

Since I only used my winch once on my first deuce and never on my 37,every now and then I'd fill the housings to the top so to coat/lube everything then drain it and refill to correct level.
