    Just bought a MUTT

Well, that's one of the shorter 'vehicle ownership' stories I've heard! Glad I got to see it yesterday. :p I saw one recently that had a body made out of 1" square tubing and sheet metal, with the tubing on the outside. Cheers

    New V-100

After a 3-month hiatus from my normal life, I came home again Monday night. I had left home for a few days at New Years to help my mum get over surgery, and help her clean out her garage. Things turned out differently, and we had her funeral last Saturday. What better way to get back to your...

I'm having trouble determine the name of this vehicle

Look at the VBL also. Those are the short ones in your pictures. Cheers

    Newbie from Russia

Hi Serge. Are you going to paint yours as a military vehicle? If so, you might be interested in our local car club - http://www.lonestar-mvpa.org/ We are not total purists, as we have a couple of CJ-2s posing as WWII jeeps, but no one minds. Cheers

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

I was told by "one who knows" that the LVS lights were upside down so you could tell at a glance a Marine LVS from an Army HEMTT/PLS. While that may be true, but failing to see why it would be important, I think it more likely that it was a former Army guy at Oshkosh having some fun with the...

    parking brake on warning mod?

I will look forward to seeing this mod when you do it (I'm not smart enough to figure it out on my own). The parking brake alarm in my 931 drives me nuts! (Short trip..) Cheers

    M1009 Ready for Deployment

I saw my first Marine M1009 while at PTA (Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii) in late 1984, and other bases after that. Never saw very many of them, but I got out of the Corps in late 1986. Cheers

What do these letters mean stenciled on my M1009?

What Warthog said, Army registration, the third character will be a zero rather than an o. Cheers

M1009 Pintle Strength and dropping a fuel tank

 I think I'll go buy some bolts..... Both my 1009 fuel gauges do exactly the same thing, I guess I should do my senders while I am putting new bolts on my pintle! Cheers

    Show me your M109A3

You did say 'M109 or similar', so here is my M185A3. The main difference is that the 185's were electronics shops and have more electrical stuff as standard in the box. Mine now has bunk beds (standard military metal ones) and is our camper when we go to shows. It hauls a trailer with a...

    New V-100

I got three great Christmas presents this year. One was my oldest son coming home, so the whole family could be together. The second is a flag. When Davey was in Afghanistan, he got one of the flags that had flown over their FOB for me. Right before he came back to the US it was stolen...

    M109/185 Van Body Antenna Mount

Here is another variation that came on my M185. If it isn't obvious, this is the drivers side front corner. The mounting bolts go all the way through to the inside of the box, where there is a large reinforcing plate. It is well caulked both inside and out. Cheers

    FT HOOD Museum Pics

Remember, there is a second vehicle museum/display a few blocks east of the main one, some neat vehicles there. There is also a V100 outside the 720th MP headquarters building. There are lots of static vehicles, and even an A-10, outside various buildings around the base (which is huge). Cheers

    M54A2 tarp and bows question

Yes, any 14' 5-ton tarp will fit the bed on your M54, which is the same size on the M813/M923(and variations). The M35 beds are 12' long, so their tarps are too short lengthwise. Cheers

Work on the baby HEMTT grinds to a start.

Talked to the illustrious Mr Jones a few days ago, he is alive and well, he has just been busy with other things. The truck is still there, opining for some attention! Cheers

So after 6 years of saving up I bought a BRDM2...

Yes, I second that Earl is a good guy. He has a BRDM himself, and has run a bunch through his place. He has contacts over there whence they came, that's why I suggested he would be a good one to talk to about parts, etc. Cheers

    V100 mods

Louie, I was honoured to have you guys drive my V around! It was really great to see the looks on everyone's faces. And yes on the vision for what we do with our vehicles. WGT has done amazing work to convert his V into his dream machine. Mine, though a documented Vietnam veteran, is...
