Your calculations for the tire load you are assuming a perfectly balanced load . But the problem you are having is the back is sagging witch means the load is heavier on the rear axel than the front . Load the truck and go to a truck scale you will find you have a greater weight on the rear axel...

The air bags will work just fine . But you will still be overloading the tires ,risking a blowout . Go to duel tire set-up or get a trailer with brakes

I would just pour some concrete in the section that it is tearing up , you have to seal asphalt every couple years no maimtainance with concrete and no ruts from parking on a hot day 2cents
