If I had the choice I would use the CR29927, anytime.
Not only does it come with a protective lip directed out-wards; it also has a lip material designed "V" which stands for FPM or fluorinated propylene monomer.
That seal has a much better heat resistance, compared to the conventional type...
OK then, I recon you want it to look original (=cheap) :-)
(No, the military don't do rope splicing... since MV's don't have sails... :p)
I don't think I have enough clips to send you, for one complete cover; but let me know if you can't find them there.
Hey, I'm sure you could easily make...
Just to avoid any confusion: in that photo posted above the shift linkage that actuates the rear output shift shaft is custom-made.
The other (winch)lever and linkage is original, indeed.
Another example of a non-OEM solution, but air-actuated in this case.. below.

Sounds like you are forgetting that the valve stem could be the limiting factor in your case...?
I don't have access to tatra parts to find out what fits or does not. But I am attaching a drawing here, showing all critical dimensions. Maybe that helps.
If anyone has those hub & drum assy...
Even worse...! Its all in our own tech library; only - there is this very terrifying search window in the Deuce forum: and then one has to type in "spindle AND cork" to see at least 15 threads popping up! All packed full with horrific info & tips; personal experience and mishaps; many crew...
At first I thought it was shut down for Memorial Day: off course, no problem, very understandable...
Then, Thuesday I started getting nervous...
Very happy to find SS is operating normally again!
Thanks to Drew and everyone who contributed to fully recover this very best site of the...
Glad you found the cause, at least!
As I had posted here, bore diameter is an odd one (21.3mm); besides that the OEM seal prob. was designed on a Friday, last minute... (IMHO)
So you will not find any std. oil seal to fit in there and either need to get the original AMBAC part, or...

WOW, never saw one of those before!
Does it just appear from the pics, or is it indeed very unstable, with all the tires placed in between the tracks?... as if tank & trailer would tip sideways at the very next corner...:???:

NO, DON'T read the TM (in this case)...
just re-read posts #3 to #6 again and again...! Maybe then you will understand that for doing this right you'll need to get a (accurate)voltmeter and hook it up between alt. output terminal and ground...
With engine at idle adjust to 28.0V - 28.2V...
Sure enough you wouldn't make it that far if the transmissions were drained.
But even at correct oil level they(some) can get very noisy after a while, at top speed. Not all of them are as noisy, though.
Nope, all helical gears, except 1st and Rev.

Thanks!
Pics..... YES, close to 1000!
Depends what you wanna see... submarines; ships; tanks; trucks; flying machines of all kind; girls....? :)
Just one for now, as a teaser: famous B-17 "Sally B", starting engines & getting ready... she is supposed to take big part of the coming Jubilee Air...
Hey, glad if it helped!
Actually the only reason I had posted bearing#s was for someone "really interested" to look up their exact size in the catalogs.....
Now, if I had only suspected that it would cause that much trouble, by suggesting obsolete parts... sorry but I just couldn't avoid...
