Sorry to hear. Accidents are never good. I have amber led strobe lights that will run on 24v I have magnets on the back of them and crimped on Packard connectors so I can tap them into the running light circuit and stick them on if needed. They were very inexpensive.
I think I have more legroom with them. I took out my original seat and sliced off the base plate. Bolted the plate back in, put the seat in and lined it up exactly where I wanted it. Marked it on the plate took it all out, welded seat to plate and bolted it right in.
Yup if you stand on the drivers front tire and look over the ip it will be backside toward the front. Only go 2 turns it can fall out and then you will have a bad day.

I have some 24 volt 170 amp alternators coming in a few weeks. The mounting looked very similar in the pics I am hoping they will mount up easily. They are a modern design used on one of the mrap trucks.
Napa has the canister filter. Comes off with a bolt on top. You will have to open the bolt head on the top back of the ip and prime the fuel once you change the filters. It takes a good amount of priming.
I would start by changing both fuel filters and running some injector cleaner thru. With a full tank that it. When the tank is near empty you can always hear the return. Some people recommend ATF trans fluid. I use marvel mystery oil.
I don't know if the original alternator will handle all of that. It has a sense line that allows for voltage regulation which will need to stay on the truck side. I believe there is a charging wire that comes off the alternator and goes to the positive on the starter. I believe this is the main...
A normal battery isolator is just 2 big diodes. It will have 3 terminals, one from the alternator and then one each to feed both batteries. A battery equalizer is different. If you just want to step down to get 12 volts you can come off the 24 volt positive terminal (thru a fuse or breaker of...
There is a thread on bumping the power in the 6cta. I have mine turned up and it seems to use more fuel like this. I also have a heavy foot. I would think if you were light on the pedal then gas mileage should be around the same. Turning up the fuel just gives you the ability to use more fuel.
I have them listed in the classifieds with dimensions. They were intended to mount above a radiator thats a bit lower than the one on a 5ton. Several commercial diesel trucks use this style. Look at the pics and let me know. will@pawnking.com

If you replaced the fuel filters and didn't fully prime it then you could have some air pockets in the fuel system. It could be sucking in air. You want at least 1/4 tank full or you could end up sucking air from the pickup depending on grade. More info is needed. Compared to the newer tq gens...
