Kenny: Find what? The girlfriend or the truck? :D My reco on the girlfriend holding you back...ignore her and go for it. They'll be plenty of time for her to trim your sails when she is your wife. I'll be honest...my girlfriend NEVER said a word about anything until we got married and it...
M813rc: If you are interested, I might be getting a brand new 5 ton cargo cover that is for the ISO bed. I only want the new bows out of the kit. I'd sell the new cargo cover and end curtains for $300. PM me if you are interested and I'll keep you posted about the potential deal.
I don't think you'll find any info on the ISO bed in any standard "10" operator's manuals because it was retrofitted by the Marine Corps. I do not believe that they came from the factory with the ISO beds. When the trucks were overhauled at bases such as MCLB Albany, the trucks were converted...
The last I heard from David, the publishing company has opted against publishing another edition of the book. David: Can you post an email address to a publishing company that we can use to send a message requesting another edition be published? If we send enough emails, they might change...
JIMK: You should get Dave P. to join Steel Soldiers. For those of you who don't know him, Dave is one hell of a nice guy! I really enjoy drinking a few brews with him at each Aberdeen and talking "trucks."
I find that asking a guy what oil to use is like talking about politics or religion and asking advice. Every one knows they are right and will tell you about it! :D I stick with a good name brand...and what's on sale at COSTCO. I usually either buy Rotella 15W40 or Mobil Delvac 15W40...both...
ACE, I'm not sure how to answer that. The starter has been rebuilt so it is not NOS. However, I believe it to be original equipment, not the newer style starter.
RE: Rebuilt CUCV alternator for sale
I screwed this up...it is not a rebuilt alternator, it is a rebuilt STARTER... Sorry 'bout that. It came off am M1009.
I've had trucks with the ISO bed and with the original bed. Hands down, I prefer the original bed. You might be surprised how flimsy feeling the ISO bed sides are. With that said, it is a cool design that allows you to carry small shipping containers. Most of the USMC trucks had the ISO...
Hi,
If anyone is interested in a freshly rebuilt CUCV alternator, a friend of mine is selling one. If you are interested, please contact him directly (jcronin@policeforum.org).
Thanks!
TKLM539: What color are you painting your truck? If you are painting it either 383 CARC or 3 color camo, just paint the rims black and don't worry about a bit of overspray. The military does it all of the time. I've had numerous trucks painted...you can't see a bit of overspray on the tires.
I believe the original M939 series trucks were produced from 1983 through 1985. The A1s followed in 1986 through 1988. The A2s were produced from 1989 through 1992. I am quoting this from memory. Maybe David Doyle can confirm... AM Gendeal ONLY produced the M939 and M939A1 series. BMY, a...
...another way to discern an M939A2 from the earlier trucks...the axles. The A2 axles are flat on the bottom of the differentials (i.e., they have different axles).
Good luck!
