    M543A2 vs M52A2

I used to own an M543A2 with a direct drive tranny. That baby was pushing it at about 47mph. That was all she had without winding her out too far. I will say that the motor felt torquey through all gears. Joe Young had an M62A2 with an OD tranny...you could not get the truck into 5th gear...

    Daisy chain towing deuces

James, I experienced the swaying when pulling two M332 ammo trailers simultaneously. 50mph...almost lost control of the rear-most trailer...under 50mph...no problems. I was told (and experienced it firsthand) that the sway of the frontmost trailer is exacerbated in the rearmost trailer. Be...

    Dual vs quad battery packs

I am not sure of the complete history of the four battery set up, but I know they began to use it religiously on the M809 series trucks with the NHC-250. If you have ever tried to start one up in the cold you know why. It takes a lot of juice to crank those 855 cubes when they are ice cold. I...

    Maryland to Michigan??

I now have four complete kits...the one I have had for a few years (but is like new), the one I bought from Joe a month or so ago, and the two I bought from him last night. I am sure I could part with one for you. Let me think about a price and then I'll PM you.

    Maryland to Michigan??

Hi, GIJOECZAR is headed back to Wisconsin in a couple of weeks. Now, the good part...he is pulling an empty (to my knowledge) car trailer after I bought him out on the 5 ton dump truck troop seat kits. I cannot speak for him, but you could see if he could deliver it some where in MI. Thanks!

    More Power In a M936A2

NATE_O23: First, thank you for your service. Second, what does the elephant stencil on the passenger door signify? I used to have a 10 ton cargo with an elephant on the front bumper and it was a unit marking of some sort. Thanks!

    Cummins NHC 250 vs 6CTA 8.3 opinions

I suppose I shoudl clarify. I meant parts availability on the surplus market. Yes, the 6CTA parts are available...especially since it is a more recent motor and is used in many civilian commercial applications...but it gets pricey going to Cummins or other commercial parts suppliers. Compare...

    More M105A2 questions

I concur with BUILDER77...I bet the problem has to do with the tires. A friend told me he had the same problem. He ended up un-mounting the tires and found a folded extra flap inside one tire that caused this same problem at certain speeds. Just a possibility...

    Cummins NHC 250 vs 6CTA 8.3 opinions

NHC-250 PROS -- parts availability, reliability, strong motor (not necessarily stronger than the 6CTA motor, but you get your power from 855 CI's, not the turbo) CONS -- does not like cold weather (it will always start, but you will need some ether), older design so it is not as efficient...

    Almost done

Do you have any "before" pics? The truck looks great. Great job!

    Rear Hummer bumper

To be truthful, I am not sure what they are supposed to go for, but that is what I paid. I was told they were pricey by a few friends who are knowledgeable about HMMWVs. Check around on pricing and availability, and then we can talk. No worries...

    Rear Hummer bumper

I've got one with the mounting accessories. The bumper itself is a clean take off...the mounting accessories are new. I was told it was complete...and I bought it as such...but never installed it so I am not positive, but I believe it to be complete. If we find out it is missing something...

    Bang in reverse

Try jacking the front wheels off of the ground. If the sprag is wound up, the front wheels should spin releasing the tension on the sprag. If the tension is not released, the sprag might fail (or might have already failed). I've never had this problem, but this is what I was told previously.

    Prototype 5 ton 6X6 M956

I believe this truck was purchased from Dave Newman, but I might be mistaken. Perhaps, Dave will post a few pics.

    Knuckle Boom Crane on M35A2C

Mark, how did you think I remembered your name? Of course I remembered you...I remembered you so well I recognized your ham radio handle. JOHNNYREB, no offense meant. At least I remembered some of your screen name.

    Knuckle Boom Crane on M35A2C

Hi Mark, Try to find a HEMTT knuckleboom. It will mount directly to your chassis. They can lift 4500 pounds within 9 feet and 2500 pounds out to 19 feet. I hope that one of the other SS members will respond. Someone on this list...I believe his screen name is REBLAWYER or something like...

    GL or Private sale?????

I am big into the auction scene these days, but I still buy from dealers if they've got what I want. With that said, my first three deuces were all purchased from Joe Young and I am VERY happy I chose to buy from a dealer the first time around (actually the first three times around!). It saved...

    M105A2 questions

I've seen guys drop the height of the M105 by installing rims/tires off of an Isuzu cab-over truck (the bolt pattern matches perfectly). This eliminates the problem of needing three guys to help hook up the trailer, but you still have the problem of weight. Empty, the trailer weighs over 2700...

    M105A2 questions

I'd almost guarantee that the trailer is older than 1996, but 1996 was the year that the current owner applied for the title. THe newer trailers have different front lifting shackles on each side of the front a-frame (right in front of the bed). The newer trailer's lifting rings protrude...

How much should I ask for My M715 I want to sell!

I agree with MADDAWG. Around $3K sounds about right. I will add that you will get more if you could even throw a quickie OD paint job on it. A lot of guys don't want a military truck unless it is military color. They are good trucks...but you have to know what to expect and what the truck...
