Windshield wiper parking problem?? More unusual that your average case!

If I was to properly diagnose this issue i would remove the hood and cowl screen. Then remove the wiper transmission linkage and check it all out. it may be tweaked or bent a bit. But that area can always use a bit of cleaning and some touch up. It is a dirt trap under that cowl screen. Also a...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

This is my rear window seal and the small piece of steel channel I screwed on to protect the glass edge during loading and unloading of the cargo area.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

That tailgate release mechanism was a royal PITA. I know that piece was discontinued a long time ago. I have some that they just stay in the retracted position all the time. i am OK with that. You can open the gate at anytime with it in the down locked position. Not that I do but it is just...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

That bit of window sticking out is standard operating procedure. All M1009's have a bit of glass sticking up with the window cranked all the way down. Dumb design but that is the way they are. I put a small piece of aluminum channel on the top of my gates and also a rubber seal that covers the...

    Drivers side front sag??

I think this subject has been beat to death. My M1009 frame is bent at a few places since this subject went viral. A frame alignment machine supports the body and frame on separate clamps/stands and you do not need to remove a body to get a frame in exact measurements. That would be a bit labor...

Windshield wiper parking problem?? More unusual that your average case!

I would throw my hat in the ring and ask that you try a rebuilt wiper motor. You can then narrow down the problem. They are about $50. exchange and the rebuilt is warranted for life. And also may I suggest you check and clean the ground at the wiper motor? Good Luck. I hope it is not in the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160930/afd02172a14842e944c255a156bb1cb8.jpg I did want to add. Do not throw away CUCV power steering pump brackets no matter if they are broken or not. They are very hard to find and have been discontinued for years. I had attempted to have a shop fabricate...

This is a very true statement. What tool is used to tighten belts. Is it a turn buckle style? Never used one so I guess I will see and possibly learn something. I am glad V belts are a thing of the past for the most part.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Trust me it is wider. Not all Green Stripe belts are wider. But that number 9580 XL belt is wider. It will sit high in the pulley and thus give you a bit more adjustment. Make sure you have the green stripe belt loose when you are tightening the power steering belt. After you have the Power...

Pics of 700r4 TV bracket installed for refference

That is where the throttle cable gets attached. I hope you have that part on your CUCV.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I have been using a Gates Green Stripe XL 9580. It is a 1/2" wide belt and sits high in the pulley like the OEM belt did on that side. I get a few years out of one. I use these things hard. I also have everything hooked up as it came from the factory with the resistors and the 13g AC Delco glow...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

My guess on the leak is the hydra brake booster. that is an easy fix. You can buy a lifetime warranted one for less then $200. and you don't even need to bleed the brakes to replace it. Get a 15MM semi deep swivel head impact socket and a long extension and you are good to go.

    Drivers side front sag??

I just ordered 4 new complete leaf springs for my current M1008 project. I ordered the 4 ply front springs it gives the old M1008'/M1028's a nice even/level stance. I have installed 3 complete sets of the leaf springs in the last year and I replaced all the shackles, U bolts , and mounting...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Personally I would take the intake off and injection pump off. This would eliminate bending the injection lines and make the job much nicer. Change the intake gaskets and the front main seal while you are at it. I tend to over maintain everything I own. But I keep them going and going. Do as...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The average driver has a reaction time of 3/4 second. This accounts for an additional 60 feet traveled at 55 mph. Braking Distance is the distance it takes to stop once the brakes are applied. At 55 mph on dry pavement with good brakes, it can take a heavy vehicle about 170 feet and about 4 1/2...
