Put a little of the Permatex Right Stuff on the new out put seal and you will be golden. If it is leaking out of the yoke. You may need a new yoke put on your drive shaft or just clean it up good and put the right stuff on the outside of the broach cap of the yoke. I hope that helps. i had new...
I was not really cranking. But about 4 hours. I done a lot more then I had to just as PM. I changed the cross over manifold gaskets and all the hoses. I took about 7 hours of my time. I was not in a hurry. I cleaned every part nut and bolt in the parts washer and redesigned the heater hose...
IMHO. I would have bought a new replacement rag joint and been back on the road. These old trucks just last and last with the original parts even if they are made in China. I have many on the road and they just keep on going. Live and learn. Peace Man. Happy Labor day.
I am thinking wiper motor. At this point it is $50. and about 10 minutes to change. It may take a few hours if you remove the cowl screen and the wiper transmission clean and grease all the linkage. But the time is well spent. I do it on every CUCV and it shows and they all need it if it has not...
Check all the wires under the buss bar and make sure the alternators are plugged in correctly at the voltage regulator. I suspect you have a problem in the printed circuit board on the back of the cluster. I have good luck working on clusters while they are still in the dash and then reassemble...
You can get that spiral spring retainer in place. You just need to clean the groove in the hub really good. You just thread it into place a little at a time. I have seen guys go all out temper tantrum with the spiral snap retainers and the M1009 wire hub retainer. They cursed the things till I...
I just did a CUCV M1008 yesterday. I have put several dozen of the Autozone New water pumps on. Never had the same truck twice. They are warranted for life and less then $100. for everything. Beats a stick in the eye. This M1008 had the OEM pump and 120K on it. I run it everyday. IMHO Good Deal.
That is how most internet sales go. You are just a number. i like face to face first name basis parts sales. I always shop for the best price and warranty. I don't care if the parts are made in Timbuktu. If they fit and work that's the part for me. I can tell if something is cheesy on parts just...
Yes that definitely looks like it is not going to fit. That looks expensive. Sorry I can't help you. I still have the rag joints on all my trucks. I am sure my new Chevy has u joints but that also has electric steering. On that replacement are you supposed to use set screws?
That is the same switch for the wiper that all GM trucks had in 1984/85/86/87. Nothing is special about a CUCV wiper switch. Very little is special on the truck period except the bolt/rivet on items and the 24 volt. Other then that they were built on the same line a civilian trucks at the same...
All done and back on the road. I hope someone finds it helpful. It is easier to cahnge the water pump with out removing the radiator and fan shroud. The folding step scaffold in the front helps a lot also. Makes working on CUCV'S a breeze and you can stand up and look over the entire truck and...
I needed to change the V belts and all the hoses. I have been running this Big Red M1008 hard for the past 11 years. It sees a lot of high speed interstate driving and hauls a lot of parts and material. I was at the GM dealer and there was only 1 OEM GM water pump in the entire parts system. I...
I started out a 0600 dark today. I needed to get the water pump changed. It started leaking at the weep hole last week and I did not have the time to change it. I went into Autozone and picked up a new water pump, the timing cover gasket, new hoses and fuel filter. About 6 hours later it was all...
Did you try another wiper motor? For about $50. you can buy a re-manufactured one that is warranted for life. As far as the wiper switch. Good luck with that. Let me know how you make out.
I always paint wet on wet. If you allow the green to fully dry and add the brown and black you will get nasty dry edges. Do as you wish. I have done many different color variations of the camo in many different colors and always get the best results wet on wet. The colors seem to melt in and dry...
Guess I will be up Saturday AM with my crew and Terminus M1009 and staying home Friday to eat supper with my family. Saves me a lot of work. Last time I came up I had help and steak after cutting and unloading the wood. You drive a 2 1/2 ton truck and I drive an M1009. Who could haul more wood...
