PA - Fall 2016 Rausch Creek Steel Soldiers Rally

We are only heading up Saturday AM. I have lots of work and will need to get ahead on Friday. I hope everything is well with the HMMWV. I have been very busy battling the intense heat this summer and so far this fall has brought. I have a major CUCV rebuild going on right now and have been...

NOS USMC M1028 from Norway Storage

I have a 1984 M1009 in my barn with 13K original miles. It has been in my barn for over 20 years. It is not completely assembled at this time. I know a few members have seen it. I am saving it for a special person that may be myself or someone else. It starts and runs and is very clean...

    M1008 Won't Hot Start

Hard to tell from the pictures. But you do need that starter support bracket.

    Oil lines to rad

Hard to find item. I would check a YOUPULLIT. Any 6.2 diesel lines will fit from G van, C,K, 10-30 Blazer , Jimmy, Suburban. Anything with a 6.2. I had a friend make them up. He said they were A/C fittings. Not sure but he had a set made at a hydraulic shop. I hope that helps. And if my...

    My CUCV Clone M0009

No Red dawn here. I will either be selling the 1974 convertible conversion kit or installing it on one M1009 I have that is missing a lot of pieces. I am thinking basic BLACK thru and thru. M0009 The Shadow. But I have everything listed for sale and who knows what will develop. I never was a Red...

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

That system was designed around the NBC unit that would be located on the front wall. I seen one only once. The vents are open just enough to allow a bit of ventilation. In an ambulance you would not want free flowing air with the dirt that would enter. That is my observation. They opened them...

    M1008 Won't Hot Start

Well I am not a fan of relay mods and that does not mean it is cured. You will need to remove the starter and have it checked or just check and make sure that it is getting the signal to start. you can jump a wire across the relay and see if the starter responds. But at this point I can not do...

    M1008 Won't Hot Start

I am sticking with the starter diagnosis. Have you checked it and all the connections. Also starter relay under dash. It can go out and let you setting. Try a new one of them for less then $20.

    My CUCV Clone M0009

1973,1974,1975 were the only years for the full top removal in the square body design. 1976 had the half roof like the CUCV. And the windshield on the full roof removal design is taller then the half roof design. Not much but a wee bit.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Pulling the fence was the easy part. Useful M1028. Cutting the wire from the hedgerow was the hard part. The fence was 30 years old at least and was rusty at places. The rusty places break and get stuck in the hedgerow. When I drive up the hedgerow and look for wire I do not see it all. I drag a...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

It was not all that bad. The worst part was the oil. But my Son and I removed it with a vise grips and a fencing tool. It came right off. We were laying in a Speedway gas station parking lot doing it and a Pennsylvania State Trooper came up and ask us if everything was OK. We told him what had...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I balanced my rear driveshaft and cleaned the pinion seal with a full length of barbed wire. Happens every time no matter how careful I am. Easy fix a trip to Autozone a new seal some new gear oil and back on the job. Total cost of repair 1 hour and less the $20. The hedge rows were really grown...

    My CUCV Clone M0009

Shes a beauty. A one in a million girl. I have the doors and all. WOW. What a find. Saved this from a crusher at a considerable cost. But IMHO a rare and hard find 40 + years later. Everything I need is in excellent condition. I had an M1009 convoy on the interstate bringing it home. I had today...

    My CUCV Clone M0009

I bought a body from a 1974 Chevrolet K5 Blazer. It is the model with the complete removable top. This is an easy conversion as I have a few M1009's setting unfinished. This looks like an easy modification and I think it will be pretty cool and unique. I was unable to access the site for the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

After the entire afternoon of working on the fence line we all went back to the barn and I changed the oil on the Crown of Thorns M1009. This is the oil and filters I bought for $7. with all my loyalty points. Great deal. I have a question. Does 7754 engine hours make sense if the truck has 125K...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

We used the CUCV's to pull fence and fence posts. My Crusty the highly modified hot rodding CUCV caught a case of Mad Cow Disease and returned to wallow in the mud. His days of pounding the pavement were boring and uneventful. But we had a great time. I ran the CUCV's hard like always and...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Today after worship we all set out with 3 CUCV's and did some fence removal work. this fence line has been a Pain in the behind for years. With the trailer and the CUCV's we removed a 1/2 mile and it took all day. We did get a little time to play and get stuck. the trailer was the hold back on...
