454 is a pos motor in stock form. it may have a little more power but it's longevity is aweful. not to mention the MPG's will be even worse witha 3spd or whatever trans you decide to use.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Did a little hauling EGT Results
I can push 65 on flat level ground but ANY type of hill and I just mean a slight incline the speed goes way down and a good hill I'm down to 40-45mph.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Did a little hauling EGT Results
I have been told by the guys here that know this motor that 1200 is the magic number you want to stay under. these do not have piston oilers like all the new turbo diesels.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Did a little hauling EGT Results
your right 260-20 shows 20,100 plus level wind plus ring mount It should have been 20,500. I was guessing cause I didnt have the time to go and look it up.
I wish I knew what the differance in the weight of the tires is. the 1600's are 350lbs...
Re: RE: Did a little hauling EGT Results
it's the one I was telling you about on the thread you started. It's a M270A1. 40' deck. I uploaded all the TM's for it to the site. I spent 3500 for the tralier. 500 to fix the brakes and 1k to replace the floor with pressure treated wood.
1200deg was 1700-2100 rpms long hard uphill pulls 3rd,4th and 5th gears and I haven't yet touched the pump. I was hoping to turn it up some but it looks like I haven't any room to turn.
eng was running about 180deg OAT was 73 and a lsight wind.
I am going to guess the rig weights about...
you are right. but I havent touched it yet. I simply ran it stock to see where I am at. I will try tomorrow to make an adjustment with the screw. that provided I can get to it.
if you grease the top of bottom zerk you are forcing grease thru the kingpin bushings. the stock ones have lube channels built into them for this purpose.
If they have been replaced then they no longer have the grease channels and this will be much more difficult.
I have spoken at length with...
I ran the truck just now on the way to work and it's good and bad news.
Good that I am under the 1200 max temp but bad in that I'm not that far off.
I was only able to make 4th gear max rpm loaded pulls bc of the roads I was on but it shouldnt matter which gear I was in.
max egt was...
I will have results tomorrow. I had to finish some other stuff with the truck today.
I did look at my pump and I have a steel plug in there. so it wont be as easy for me to get to that screw but I will prevail.
