Hit large hidden rock - suspect damage to torque bar

:ditto: My thoughts also, and hoping for the best. (since I know that these housings are "softer" than one would imagine, and they do bend...!) G.

Hit large hidden rock - suspect damage to torque bar

Hahaha..... that would be an extra hard-boiled egg than!:) (in this case I had the files saved and almost ready to go, from Maverick's "adventure", almost two years ago...!) Hope it helps, anyways! G.

Hit large hidden rock - suspect damage to torque bar

Two possibilities: middle axle shifted or bent. Or both!? (drawing below...) You might read this one to help determine what's wrong: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-up/31858-uneven-tyre-wear-m54-rear-axle-after-accident.html G. I forgot that you had mentioned "grinding of the...

M35A1 LIVES, finally. vid link to the event

What IP/ HH model numbers did you finally use? Replacing several new hyd heads? Remember which #s ? Not to long ago I learned (the hard way) that the plunger of the HD9065A head which comes on the 85EH, code "G" pump for the LDS427 is made about 1/4" longer at the lower end, compared to the...

5 Ton PS Pump on a Deuce ?

... reviving this one for some more info and a word of caution.... Q: can any Multifuel PS-pump be mounted to any Multifuel engine??? A: Yes but.... there is at least one exception to this rule.... (which I found out just a few days ago, the hard way, of course)...!aua Who would have...

    Deuce front spring bushings

They are nominal 1 1/4" x 1" x L=2 1/2", new in the box. But keep in mind that... 1) actual pin diameter is only 25.0 mm or .984" 2) spring eye is not machined so a new bushing is never round or cylindrical once pressed in - which greatly reduces initial free play... but also contact area so...

    Wheel Cylinder Junction Block

I have had the same problem... and no place close to find spare parts! One solution, working very well............ G.

    Winch bolts

OP said "fine thread" which the 12 shouldered ones are not... All other mounting bolts are std. sizes, 1/2"- 20 and 5/8"- 18, grade 5 or better. Re-use all but a visibly stretched bolt; there are more than needed and they are oversized anyways for their function... The "weak link" are the...

    brass shear pin?

I did include pins made out of different brass "sources" in my testing, here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/7948-winch-shear-pins-13.html ... and I am using 8mm home-made brass pins myself... BUT.... no clue what alloy and properties those were/are. All I can say is that in general, at...

    M135 Tailgate

Yes, you could have one built better than new! Let me know in case you can't find a good stock one in your area. I have one (almost new) laying around, for all pics and dims you wanted. G.

Why GL Deuces have no Brakes

emmmm...... not when no brakes are applied! The return springs actually keep the shoes resting against their excentric adjuster stops. In a correctly vented system at rest the pressure inside the WC is equivalent to only about 20" of brake fluid column. Specific gravity for DOT5 being almost 1...

    New Deuce Has A Problem

That's what I think it is. First I would reduce pedal free travel to 1" or little under and see if it made any difference. If not then the input shaft nose could be running dry in the pilot bushing causing enough drag to have the input shaft spinning all the time, especially after transmission...

    Injection Pump ID

Normally tags/dataplates are on both, the hydraulic head AND the pump housing. All required info as to what IP should go on what engine model is in this TM 9-2910-226-34 (attached, since the manuals section is momentarily down....) G.

    injection pump?

Read post #28, here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/57572-new-hh-now-lot-smoke-no-power-3.html Your IP was removed for inspection/repair while motor and/or starter kept untouched. Then all went back in, you have fuel at the injectors (and the white smoke confirming it) but no start...

silicone the O-rings on HEMMT wheels?

That's what I used as lubricant on those (new) HEMMT O-rings. Although it looks to me that they are made out of silicon rubber, so any kind of grease could be applied with no harm. According to this chart http://www.imperialinc.com/pdf/A_FastenerTorqueCharts.pdf the Grade "G" nuts...

    Official Deuce Aftermarket Wheel Thread

Ahh OK, no need to measure then, I know these rims....:-) If 3.5" was left on the outside (= front-space) and the center plate is 0.5" thick then on the backside you got backspace = 8.25" G.

    Official Deuce Aftermarket Wheel Thread

Cool! The whole truck looks good! Now please go and measure backspace again....:p` (the way they are mounted you certainly have more than 3.5"....) G.
