Tubular bows with a 45 degree shoulder and they come to a very shallow peak on top (almost flat, but not quite). The attached picture should show what I mean if it comes out with enough detail.
Cheers
Yes, it comes off. You unfasten the bolts at the front that attach to the windshield, the rear lower corners are pipe and slide into/out of holes in the bed sill corners. One person can do it, two is better.
The standard tire size for 404s was the 10/10.50x20. As an option, they could have 12.50x20s (which, incidentally, is roughly the same height as a 9.00x20). Mine has 12.50 Michelin XLs on it.
The 12.50 does NOT fit in the spare tire holder under the bed! Maybe if you moved the battery box...
I gather the tubular grills are prone to getting water trapped inside and rusting out, on the few I have seen personally, that was the case. I imagine that is why they get swapped out?
FWIW I believe the tubular grill was Army only, and designed to be lighter. All Marine trucks reportedly...
Good info from the other responses. I will add that I have dealt with several of the other Mog parts/vehicles guys listed here besides Willy and found them all to be great folks.
On the topic of getting into the Mog, on my first few times I imagine I must have looked something like the...
As regards pulling an M105 behind a 404 Mog, my personal opinion is I would not. That is a big and heavy trailer and the Mog has no way of powering the brakes. Empty you could move it around, but loaded it would scare me. I have an M101 for mine, and for me that is plenty big enough.

I guess it depends on what you want and what you plan to do with it.
I took a look at Swiss AV site to see what was on there. That cargo truck is complete with all the bells and whistles, in great shape and has 10k miles on it. From what similar Swiss trucks have been going for on ebay, $9900...
David, the reason Swiss Army Vehicles prices are a bit high is that, as Sarge said, his stuff is in excellent shape. I looked at his Unimogs last time I was there, one of them had less than 8k miles on it and it showed. The Swiss trucks were typically meticulously maintained in service and...
There were quite a few on Camp Pendleton late '70s/early 80's. The tractor's there were normally Dodge, some were 4x2, some were 4x4 and sat noticeably higher. I recall some similar Dodge 6x6 tractors around and about, but don’t remember them pulling cattle cars.
They looked something close...
Sam, if you are concerned about driving it, I'll drive it back for you. We can run down there, check it out real good and if all looks okay head north. If we don't get all the way back, we'll holler at Sarge or Jeff to grab my 5-ton and the towbar and come get us.
A couple of years ago we...
I looked at the CTIS controller on a Russian BTR-152 armoured truck once. It was between the front seats and looked like a critter from Alien, or a lobster gone wrong, being a mass of valves and hoses and controllers. Basically, there was a large central thing (highly technical term) to which...
Reb87, from the picture it looks like your drivers window might just be rolled up too far and hit the roof when the door closed. Mine does that, roll it back down a bit and it should close nicely. They are a sloppy fit when rolled up.
Cheers
The wheels are the two-piece combat rims, 10" wide. They are deeply dished. On the front, the deep side is in, the wheel envelopes the hub. On the back, the deep side is out, the brake drums are out in the open. Hubs are not flipped or modified. This is the standard military setup for these...
FYI, you don't actually have to put the sticker on the vehicle, you just need to be able to display it. In Texas Traffic Code terms that means show it to an officer upon request, so you can carry it with your other paperwork (ins., etc.).
In Texas you can register any former military vehicle...
