    8x8 APC Identity Question

That's it! Thank you Elwenil. I had not seen that one before ( ) and none of my references had it. I guess I need a new copy of Jane's. I did try poking about on the SO's website, but it was so tediously slow loading on my dinosaur dialup (please don't laugh at me, it's all I can get...

    8x8 APC Identity Question

Can anyone identify this vehicle? It belongs to the Oakland County (Michigan) Sheriffs Office. (No, I don't want to debate why they have it, I just want to know what it is!). Cheers

Good writeup and pictures, thanks Sam! Cheers

    San Antonio recovery

I can safely testify that it IS a non-springer seat! Not a bad ride though. The truck drove really nicely and is in really good shape. All we had to do was top off the fluids, and none were seriously low. Truck fired right up, all the lights worked, even the windshield wipers (and boy did...

    MTVR up close

I have been wanting a newer style fitted tarp for my ISO bed M813A1 (15' bed). I tried and found that the one for the 14' bed just won't work since the tarp is actually 13.5' long and the bow points were in the wrong place. And by tried, I mean dragged the tarp up there and pulled and grunted...

    I have this disease too..my M113

You have to post the actual pictures on this forum. Look under FAQ's above, it will explain it. Remember that as you add the pics, they show to be in reverse order until you hit 'submit', then they post in the order you added them. That is a really nice 113, good job. Many of us have that...

    Trailer Designation

Yep, seen some that had yellow showing through too, no data plates, etc. Cheers

    Trailer Designation

Very true Mike, particularly with the Marines who buy what they need. I believe the green trailer in the pic is a Holden MT020 (wish I had one!), I wondered what the Marines call it. On Ft Hood I saw some equipment trailers that did have an M number though (which surprised me), but for the life...

June 14 is Flag Day. Let's see your FLAGS!

Okay, here are ours. We have to keep them low because trees on the route WILL rip them right of your truck, pole and all (right Sarge?? ). Cheers

    Trailer Designation

A while back I saw some military trailers that were very similar to civilian equipment trailers like the red one below. I don't remember the M number designation for those, does anyone know? How about for the USMC trailer below? May be a Marine specific unit (photo courtesy of Halftrack)...

    M26 Tank Recovery Vehicle.

Yes, when you don't actually need armour, the sheet metal cab took 21,000# off the vehicle weight (!). The doors on both cab types are on the sides near the rear (where the star is on the armoured cab). Cheers

    14' bed on a deuce????

Is this the 14' bed you are talking about? If so, it is the standard 5-ton dropside bed. The drop panels, incidentally, are the same as on the deuce A2C. Now, just to confuse the issue, Marine M813s also had a 15' dropside bed as a refit, but there is no fixed section at the front, so they...

    M939 Lightweight Weapons Station question.

Could be a Kia, or... A little research shows that the AM715/AM720 were exported to Israel, Egypt and "other Middle East customers". Came in several different wheelbases. Lots of Mogs over there too, maybe someone switched beds on one. I like the older style M715 better. Okay, enough thread...

    Paint Help Needed Urgently!!!!!

jpinst, check out this thread written by Sarge, it is a great step-by-step instruction course on repainting an MV in 3-colour camo. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=144148&highlight=#144148 Cheers added info: If the names/numbers like "383 green 34094"...

    M939 Lightweight Weapons Station question.

The Arab truck in pic 2 looks like an AM715 with a Unimog bed. Anyone know anything about that vehicle? Cheers

    My M35A3 Finally arrived yesterday!

Nice truck. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I like the A3 deuces. Does yours have the 3-point seatbelts? If so, would you mind posting some pics of how they are installed? Cheers

    M35A3 USMC Paint Scheme

jpinst, in the end it's your truck, put whatever markings you like on it. That's the joy of owning it. If you decide to go with the Marine markings, check this thread, deuce markings are basically the same as 5-tons. (All done in 2" stencils)...
