..........and then somehow getting inside the boot...??????:?
....better look real close at the end of post#1......: "They are all 3 leaking at the front seal... if you take the boot off fluid then just pours out."
Sorry,
G.
The outer bearing cone (#392) fits kind of loose on the spindle, so it will most likely be moving around a bit and/or slowly spinning, always leaning against the seal inner face or... just that shim. Pressure remains the same but contact surface would then only be half as much.
But again...
Ahh... 75x62.5 shims..., aren't those the ones that go underneath the #31520 bearing cup, to adjust the pinion depht in the Dana 44 diff.....?
While that is the correct material to look for, I would rather prefer something with at least 85mm (max.91mm) O.D., to take advantage of the full...
You say seals and cup looked good.... and how was the rest, I mean the cylinder surface, especially where the outer seal lip neads to seal? It seems you are swapping around old used parts, so don't expect to much....no leaks doesn't mean much to me...
Also, is the pedal free travel or pushrod...
I have played long enough with both variants, Deuce AND 5ton - tranny PTOs, to state that they are basically the same item. Both share the same housings, bearings, seals, shaft diameters, etc. Also the rear output accessory drive is exactly the same for both. Just the front output shafts are...
Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out why all this guesswork....!?:?
Why not just get a used adapter ring from a junkyard? It should cost even less than that #6453 clutch housing you are looking for, which will NOT bolt up to the 3053 tranny!
The only #2->#3 ring I have here came out of a...
Not so here, it opens right up with a left-click, for me at least...:-) (Just checked again).
Mangus: great job!
BTW, can we somehow add/upload the M35A3 manuals? The only one in there right now is the LO manual. I have the -386-24-1-1, -24-1-2 and -24P if it helps any.

Who knows... maybe there are different batches out there???
You all keep in mind that for me this started as just a small step over a typical improvised "mid-field emergency fix".
Some previous trial and error I guess is mandatory for anyone having any other than OEM parts. A soft seal will...
Take a look at my diagram.... (not to scale this time)
Dimensions for a shim would be 62mm I.D. x 86-91mm O.D. x 0.8-1.0mm thick.
Interference for that particular seal is 1.6mm and it takes almost 30lbs to get its center plate seated against the bearing cone. Thus, the high friction and...
COOL, NICE!!! Imagine that same over very rough terrain and bumpy country roads, thousands of miles.... and they won't fall apart!
BTW: did you check your brake shoe linings lately? Sounds like something is waiting for some TLC...
G.
 ..... I'm sure having some fun with you guys...!
Hey, this is no rocket science at all. There are real seals and there are cheap imitations as well, anyone could tell the difference...;)
Long ago I had these and also the inner ones custom made in my country, with mixed results...
Exactly those NS aftermarket seals are the problematic ones. Not sure where they are made, though.... When I say "chinchulin" I refer to all Asiatic products. Probably KIA is using better stuff for themselves...??
These NS seals still are better than nothing and I have been using them for...
