We will need the model info from the mfgr data plate to answer your questions.

    M1009 rocker arm/timing question.

No reason to align timing marks for your valvetrain repairs but it is a good idea to do so for replacing the injection pump.

    MTVR armor?

After you get dimensions it’s super easy to CAD up drawings and send the DWGs to your local fabricator to CNC plasma cut steel pieces.

    Horsepower

Yup the Army hated these trucks because of that reason they have no azz at all, the tractors with a loaded tank trailer were ridiculous slow up hill.

    M4 Sherman fixing....sorta

Ha Ha never run? That is a creampuff compared to some that have been brought back from piles of scrap. Be careful on the carnage, I still have scars from deep cuts I got while grinding all that off a M47. The sharp edges just reach out and slice you.

    Durhamtown Lawsuit

For that kind of award there needed to be “willful gross negligence” or some such legalese. If having culverts on your property constitutes negligence we are all in trouble.

    alternators REO

Yes. The little white mark in the green field is 28 volts. If the alternator malfunctions that gauge will tell you the entire story.
  9. NDT

    alternators REO

No that is false. As the batteries come up to full charge after having been discharged by cranking, the voltage regulator inside the alternator senses the voltage getting higher and holds the output steady at 28 volts, at which time the batteries no longer need charging and no current flows to...

    CUCV Driveshaft Length

For sure have your transmission rebuilt. Likely just needs a few soft parts. It is special because of 4x4 tailshaft etc.

    CUCV Driveshaft Length

Agree way too much slip joint.

The Prestolite design is what was used going forward and lots of us here will tell you it is a failure prone unit. The older Leece Neville seemed to be more durable. But either will go poof if you reverse polarity it.

    RFID tags.

    M809 Wrecker Brakes Locking up

For sure you will need to rebleed the brakes to remove air from the system. Hopefully you did not contaminate the system with DOT 3 fluid, you must use DOT 5. Not releasing can be due to the pedal or piston in the master cylinder not fully retracting.

Looking at a M59. Need info

Wilber that is correct. The center steering differential locks the two inputs together. I doubt the right angle drives can handle much more than 100 hp that the 302s put out. So using one 5.9 would be iffy. Two probably ok. This 43,000 lb machine needs way more power than the 302s can deliver.

Asking for 6.2 Detroit help from North Carolina

Welcome. Let's start with the worst problem, the engine not turning off. Before you go through the agony of replacing the ignition switch, you ought to do some diagnostics first. The injection pump in the valley of the engine receives 12 volts which activates an internal solenoid to allow the...

    New (m422a1) Mighty mite owner

Welcome! Mites are great little trucks with combat history. Most parts are available thanks to Sam Werner who hoarded these parts back in the day. Couple tidbits for you: the aluminum cylinder jugs were chrome plated on the inside and this plating can peel off after years. Check into that...

    USMC Macaw Backpack Fire Extinguisher

Finally got my hands on one of these units. You may recall my thread on the HMMWV bracket available for this extinguisher. The unit uses compressed air from a SCBA bottle to create foam from a tank full of a water/foam concentrate. The foam is then blown 30 feet from the nozzle. The foam can...
