M988 glow plug Wait light issue

oh...ok, I will remind myself not to respond to your posts.

    Humvee Overheating

Did you replace the thermostat? Did you replace the coolant bottle cap? Is your fan installed correctly? Meaning the blades are moving air in the correct direction, they can be installed backwards. Lastly, you very well have a blockage in the coolant system. I would remove the radiator and have...

M988 glow plug Wait light issue

black box silver label is not an EESS, it's a PCB protective control box that requires a glow plug controller in the water crossover...not the same as an EESS S3 and TSU. the standard for all trucks is EESS...be it S3 or yellow label EESS with TSU by Nartron or KDS.

    HMMWV directional tires right?

so, I have heard, but cannot verify...the reason for the mismatched mounting is to confuse the enemy as to what direction the truck was moving....just what I have been told.
  6. Retiredwarhorses

    HMMWV directional tires right?

The HMMWV tires are not directional...regardless of pattern...but other tires can be. MT's, MTR and BF Goodrich are not.

6.2L Wait to start light not coming on

Hope it works, buy I'm sticking with bad control box...

6.2L Wait to start light not coming on

Those are all fine..95% of the time, you can visually see that the plug is toast. you will need an EESS and TSU to proceed...

6.2L Wait to start light not coming on

No way to test...but the signs of a bad EESS or older PCB is either a quick flash of the wait light and nothing, or a constant flashing, at the same time as you pointed out, no fluctuation of the voltage gauge showing the GP's are drawing voltage. that is for one or both reasons...the box is...

6.2L Wait to start light not coming on

It's really not an option, as a mechanic for 30yrs and a Communications Engineer...all the trouble shooting in the world won't make up for doing what we called Black box change out... many moons ago we diagnosed to the component, these days that is time consuming, that equals time and money. So...

    HMMWV headlights don't turn on!

Most of what's in the market these days are Chinese knock offs...I have to really look to get an NOS switch.

Military humvee crashes on n.j. Turnpike in chesterfield

Check your facts....that hmmwv has a seat belt system designed specifically for rollovers, crews are trained to egress. they are run through simulators over and over. The seat belt system is designed to keep the crew in the truck, as well as the gunner in the hatch, he has a special rig to keep...

Is import of HMMWV in to the U.S. allowed?

so "God knows how many I have had" are/were not legal? Funny, but they all had titles, insured and were daily drivers. none of this was an issue till the Gov planet trucks came out....but we are straying from topic.

200 amp generator vs. 100 amp

The 200 is the standard now in all replacements for the older hmmwv....
  15. Retiredwarhorses

200 amp generator vs. 100 amp

200 amp uses a different bracket, and is wired direct to the battery pos stud in the battery box. i have the install kits NOS and everything is included...instructions, pulled, belts etc.

    A2 rear bumper question

Just add them as you find them....I personally install of them, they are needed to install the pioneer Kit which I equip on on my trucks.
  17. Retiredwarhorses

    A2 rear bumper question

You don't need the outer 2 brackets, nor to you need the inner 2 brackets, unless you are going to tow with it, and even then I doubt it's needed. You only need the inner and out frame brackets to mount the bumper, you can use A1 outers if you cut in the 2in hole for the tear drop shackle. If...

    Humvee Overheating

Yes..TDM is the highest failure rate item in that system, then the Cadillac valve solenoid.
  19. Retiredwarhorses

    Humvee Overheating

Oh...and the number one reason for hot running truck I find is a bad radiator cap. in order for the cooling system to work correclty, glycol requires it be pressureized to raise the boiling point, if the cap is let out pressure, the coolant cannot do its job, the cap is 15psi. the other issue is...
  20. Retiredwarhorses

    Humvee Overheating

Ok folks...lots of misinformation going around. the cooling system on the hmmwv is simple, yet over engineered, like all things military these days. the HMMWV uses a hyd fan clutch, assuming everything is working the fan free wheels when cold, it is NOT locked, so it's not moving air, you will...
