Looking for a Mechanic in the Baltimore MD area to work on 1985 HMMVW electrical

Be more specific...what light? Have you checked the bulbs on affected lights? Or is it just all of them? If all of them its a Possible bad 3 lever light switch...also make sure the lower left lever is set correctly. It kills the headlights even if the upper right switch is in service mode. I...

    Cold Weather and heat-M998

Yep...plus I have seen many HMMWV's with no Tstat at all....missing or stuck open. Also, is your fan clutch working? is it stuck on?mthis would mean it's always in max cooling mode. disconnect the TDM connector with 2 wires on it...does the fan engage? Then plug it in and see if fan disengages...

Finally !! scored a hmmwv m998, LOTS to learn !! let the fun begin !!

Augi has a good point, the HMMWV seat belt system is anchored into the body with backing plates. the seat on the battery box and rear seats could be torn out with just pulling hard enough on them. the battery box cover is only made of fiberglass....personally I wouldn't run them for safety sake.

    86 m998 diff ratio ?

Yours are most likely 2:56 late models had 2:73 and 3:08 but all the M998s that came out of these auctions are early models... I have never seen one that is not 2:56 on a mil truck. in order to tell you need to open the diff up and check the stampings on the main gear should read 41-16

It's my understanding that CARC is no different then any polyurethane based paint as far as toxicity. The air supplied resperator is required for in booth or indoors painting by all means....open air painting with CARC I use a good resperator, gloves and suit....I do not spray CARC inside.

my 93 hmmwv just dies suddenly

Do not use starting fluid In these engines....period now, if you crack an injecotor line and crank do you get fuel? Have you opened the bleed valve on the fuel filter and had someone crank the motor to see if fuel come out? This test tells me the fuel pump is pumping, the Injector cracked open...

    Securing a HMMWV

The mods I have done for years are battery disconnect switch...this serves 2 purposes, maint on the truck is a breeze because you don't have to remove battery cables, and finally long term security and storage...no battery drain. the other is to wire a discreet switch, even keyed for that...

First drive m998 quirks, noises, nature of the beast ?

I know of no whine....it's either geared hub GO starvation or a diff going out, or GEar oil starved.

Need some help with a turtleback conversion

It's all adjustable, leave it all loose and install the roof....the front of the roof support can rise and fall based on what you need, that's why they are slotted. I have a C-pillar roof support bar, kinda tweaked I can sell you.
