The shatch block in question does look heavy enough for the deuce and looks like, if not the exact same block, as issued by the military for the deuce. The 5 ton rating is what's throwing me off though. Maybe that's the overhead lifting rating which would be less than the pull rating. I don't know.
Rizzo and I talked about the Coleman's shatch blocks awhile back. A deuce winch is rated for 10,000 single line pull. If you use a snatch block you should be able to double your pulling force which would be 20,000lb. Now the snatch block is rated at 5 tons (10,000lbs). I'm pretty sure that the...
Gimpyrobb has some sort of netting to fill the hole in the troop seat sides when hailing kids. You might ask him. The hole is rather large for hauling kids.
Wow, a forging plant up untill 5 years ago didn't require hearing protection . I've been in forging plants and when them hammers fall it shakes the earth and is about the loudest thing I've ever heard.
I know it seems like a big hassle but in some states it's easier than going through the state DMV. Getting paperwork for a title through GL is no walk in the park either.
There was a time (a year or so ago) GL got way behind on SF97s. It was the when the deuces first started flooding the market. They were taking up to 90 days or more. At that time GL waived the $60 fee untill they got caught up.
Parts aren't that expensive but it can be time consuming keeping it in good shape. Like bulldog said, Anything can happen on a 30+ old truck. All in all they are pretty reliable though.
Frost, All Doghead asked was if you were Darrel. If you are not don't worry about it :-D. No harm on foul.
Doghead, If darrel does show up here under another username I don't expect him to admit it .
There are some $6,500+ trucks but most are not. For $6,500 I'd expect a truck with no rust anywhere, no leaks, fully serviced, fresh paint, and new tires. It wouldn't have to be a show winner for me to pay $6,500 but it better be a really good one.
The radiator should be cooler at the bottom than it is the top if it's working properly. The bottom shouldn't be cold at operating temp though. If your gauge is pegging out and falling back rather quickly it's more than likely a short in the wire going to the sender or the sender itself shorting...
I've got a winch but haven't installed it yet so I don't have any first hand knowledge of deuce winches or shear pins. Seems like the more we talk about shear pins and answer questions the more questions it brings up.
Why are there reports of the pin breaking under no or very little load? Is...
