As if getting stuck wasn't bad enough :-x. I hate that for you.
This is one of the reasons I'm leary of getting into a very bad spot with my deuce untill I get my winch installed. When you get these things stuck it takes something big to get it out.
They did make some deuce dumps. It could be a regular cargo truck that somebody converted though.
Yes, they will start if pushed in gear (if the fuel shutoff is in) even with no batteries.
The frame number is usually enough for Carnac but I don't know if he will have any info on a truck this old. I would post the number on the VIN info thread and see what he says.
"antifreeze will get in the oil if the radiator cap is put on tight. Leave it loose and enjoy. "
Sounds like it's got some engine trouble and I don't think that leaving the radiator cap loose is a long term fix .

I tighten the inner nut by feel. It's kind of hard to tell you how much is...
Has he looked at the t-case? I would think it would be way too big for a Suburban. I sure it's a sprag also.
I did a deal with a guy like you're talking about with a M49. I told him that I would haul the truck to my place, cut the axles out, and bring them to him. Trucks are alot easier to...
I blew a line on my truck and after I got it fixed and bled it did the same thing. I figured I didn't get all the air out. I just kept driving it and it finally went back to normal.
When you see this in a GL add it could be anything from dead batteries to a hole in the block or it could fire right up. GL is known for having wrong discriptions. If you don't preview it's a roll of the dice as to what kind of truck you get. Some even have body damage that was done after the...
