I just shot gimpy some prices and he says he's going to just about clean me out. Says he's got a pocket full of birthday money and I've got some parts :-D.

Newbie about to take the Plunge

    It's a 1971 m35a2 hardtop, air-shift, D Turbo. Good runner, good body.

    truck with t-case PTO

The truck was a M49A2C fuel truck. Gimpy has first dibs on whatever he wants (which reminds me I've got to figure a deal for him) but the truck does have two good doors.

    old crane - military?

As far as the carb icing, Make sure your vaporizer ( the big round thing that regulates the fuel) has coolant running through it to warm the propane. Most of these rigs were dual fuel and could be switched between propane and gas. You should be able to set containers with this crane. Just...

    old crane - military?

I'm 99% sure it's a Broderson. We have a 8 1/2 ton that is a newer model but the body style is the same.

    truck with t-case PTO

The same guy I got the truck from also has a M211 for $1,500 if anybody is interested. Said it turns over but he can't get it to fire.

    M-818 speed question

Alot depends on what people call "hills". A big steep hill to a guy in KS is only a bump in the road to the guys in the mountains . I've been out west one time. Living in the "hills of TN" I thought I knew what a steep hill was untill I went out west.

    M-818 speed question

I don't know much about the 5-tons but I do know about Cummins engines. The main thing is don't run it over 2100rpm for very long. The 250 is a small engine by todays standards. Just having 5 speeds doesn't help in the power department. All that being said, it is a design that's been around...

    Extensive M108 repairs, part 2

I wondered about that after I posted.

    Extensive M108 repairs, part 2

I guess a wrecker is the only MV that can disassemble itself. Are you begining to wonder if it would have been easier to swap the bed onto another truck?

    truck with t-case PTO

No. Won't anything else replace it. I haven't looked at the data plate but it was either a fuel truck or a water truck. Gimpy, PM sent.

    old crane - military?

:ditto: It's a Broderson carry-deck crane. I'm going to say an 8 1/2 ton model. They are very handy.

    truck with t-case PTO

Picked up another deuce today. What is this shaft comming out the top of the transfer case? Just kidding :-D. I know what it is. That is the reason I bought the truck. The rest of the truck is up for grabs except the PTO and axles. It's got a non-turbo multi. The body is junk...

Newbie about to take the Plunge

Have you been researching prices? While there are some $5,000+ trucks out there most are worth about 1/2 that. If I was going to spend 5k it would have to be a truck that hade been completely gone through and in near perfect shape.

Hotshot Transportation Co. - looking for loads

Yea, I loaded it. Fired right up :-D. I see what you're talking about with the steering though.

Hotshot Transportation Co. - looking for loads

Eric stopped by my place today to pick up Monkeyboyarmy's M35A3. Good guy.

    adding a winch to a non-winch truck

Not a bad deal either way depending on the condition of the truck.

my new deuce and its first job

That's not a crane. It's a knucleboom log loader .

    adding a winch to a non-winch truck

If you are putting the winch on a multifuel truck I think the driveshaft is different and may not work on the multifuel. I The way I understand your post you are getting the complete truck but may only take the winch. If that is the case I'd get the whole thing. You are leaving alot of...
