I just shot gimpy some prices and he says he's going to just about clean me out. Says he's got a pocket full of birthday money and I've got some parts :-D.
The truck was a M49A2C fuel truck. Gimpy has first dibs on whatever he wants (which reminds me I've got to figure a deal for him) but the truck does have two good doors.
As far as the carb icing, Make sure your vaporizer ( the big round thing that regulates the fuel) has coolant running through it to warm the propane. Most of these rigs were dual fuel and could be switched between propane and gas.

Alot depends on what people call "hills". A big steep hill to a guy in KS is only a bump in the road to the guys in the mountains :wink:. I've been out west one time. Living in the "hills of TN" I thought I knew what a steep hill was untill I went out west.
I don't know much about the 5-tons but I do know about Cummins engines. The main thing is don't run it over 2100rpm for very long.
The 250 is a small engine by todays standards. Just having 5 speeds doesn't help in the power department. All that being said, it is a design that's been around...

Just kidding :-D. I know what it is. That is the reason I bought the truck. The rest of the truck is up for grabs except the PTO and axles. It's got a non-turbo multi. The body is junk...
Have you been researching prices? While there are some $5,000+ trucks out there most are worth about 1/2 that. If I was going to spend 5k it would have to be a truck that hade been completely gone through and in near perfect shape.
If you are putting the winch on a multifuel truck I think the driveshaft is different and may not work on the multifuel. I
