I believe stocks of the unusual in-tank filter are long gone. What most people do is add a simple in-line filter before the fuel pump. It the original filter is still there, I think you can clean it by soaking in a strong solvent.
I took the shims out on my shelter carrier, helped a little. It's the heavy spring that is to blame like you say. Almost no suspension deflection unloaded.
My 35,000 lb track hoe ingested something in the main hyd pump and is dead as a doornail. I tried to dead pull it with the LMTV, that also resulted in a broken 3/8 chain. Tried it again with a 1/2 chain, ended up with wheel spin. Had to disengage the machine's brakes, then no prob.
Specify that your hauler has a trailer with ramps. Then coordinate with the GP rep, most of the time they will shove your truck up on the trailer with a big forklift.
I have brought 3 non- runner LMTVs back to running/driving. Count on 40 hous of work.
Guys I am not trying to stir up a bunch of conspiracies. It's just that John Q HMMWV buyer will see the show and assume they can take whatever they want off of the next truck over. It's bad enough that the dishonest old school surplus buyers do this, now a new crop is being schooled to do...
It's GP's off site storage lot, where sold HMMWVs go for the 6 month EUC purgatory. Hopefully jwade will post up and tell us the whole thing was scripted (like you said) and no cannibalizing is allowed under penalty of death.
I'm saying that is what happened in that episode. They needed parts for the $12,500 basket case and the wheeler dude went to the site rep and came back with take off parts. If that is not a GP lot, who has 100's of HMMWVs for sale with GP stickers all over them?
What was the GP site and who was that GP rep? Drives me nuts when they let buyers pull parts off of other people's trucks that are waiting for EUC clearance etc. Looks like Yermo. Oh and looks like anyone can drive up there and buy a truck at retail?
The Bragg SOP with older LMTVs seems to be run 'em until something however minor breaks and then off to DRMO. Don't be surprised if you find paperwork in the cab from this year.
Your DL is not read at weigh stations. Just chill, if this hauler strikes out there are plenty more. GP will cut you some slack what with the holidays and all. Trucks are all on the way home now, not looking for loads.
In my opinion, if you are getting stuck in a 4x4 pickup pulling a toy hauler, you will get just as stuck in a 6x6 pulling a dry van. Except now you will need a bulldozer to pull you out.
X2. Joey and his trucker did a great job for me as well. It was great when I started to explain about the azz-ache about picking up at a base, and he replied "been there done that". Smooth end to end.
