    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread 3.0

Thanks for the tips! i do have a set that is scrap & I know all those plastic stand off's are on there. Didn't think to pull them. Will do it after work today and put them in the organizer of small parts for these machines. Side note: Why on earth did they make these solder on?!

MEP 802A M8 Percent Load Gauge Issue

Thank you for the explanation. From what you said, what I know, and what the wire diagram shows, it makes very clear sense to me now on exactly what it is doing, and how it is doing it. Side note... just by luck, I found a complete paper set of TM's on top of the dumpster today that came in...

MEP 802A M8 Percent Load Gauge Issue

In all fairness, it was only right outside of my garage, haha. I just had other projects inside. But, not that the top is off I had to make room as I didn't want it getting rain and stuff in there. It's dusty but doesn't look like it really got wet in there so far. But yeah, inside work is...

MEP 802A M8 Percent Load Gauge Issue

You'd be supersized how many times a rubber mallet has loosened things up that were stuck on equipment that has sat, but I get your point. I don't quite understand how the CT works, and am not sure if it has anything that moves on the inside... that is why I thought of it. Had contactors not...

    MEP-802A Starter problem?

It may move freely because it is not moving the pump levers at it should. They may have "missed" the hole when installing. Have seen this the other way where the pumps "missed" the hole but were way beyond full throttle and you'd go to start it & it would scream until it died out of fuel in...

    MEP-802A Starter problem?

I just got this tester a few weeks ago and am happy with it for the cost. It does a few extra things over the $20 Harbor Freight one. https://amzn.to/3Y3Mmyi

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread 3.0

Took the top off to dig into the percent load guage issue deeper, and found a few things. Ground on the front panel was loose. Easy fix. Noticed that a few of the fuses/diodes had be changed at some point in the control box. Wasn't as obvious before. As with a lot of these, a few wires had...

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread 3.0

I made a completely separate thread for the percent load gauge since it's a pretty in depth topic itself that I didn't find it's own topic on at all; https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-802a-m8-percent-load-gauge-issue.212356/ I will post anything related to that topic on there from here...

MEP 802A M8 Percent Load Gauge Issue

So, I opened up the top to take a look. I was incorrect about it not being removed before, got it mixed it up with the other one I had worked on (to many different projects going on at once). With that said, there is nothing obvious to me that was changed or messed with on this side. Just dusty...

Some cab and bed upgrades. My OCD has a nack for not letting up until I acquire harder to get parts. Haha

    M1078 LMTV Fix-up Thread

Got a bunch of cool stuff for the truck coming up and coming in. Weather cooled off, so I am hopefully going to be able to get some big stuff done! Got some fairly cold weather early this year and had some sputtering at start. Fuel system was loosing it's prime. Think it was my water separator...

MEP802A not starting . Notice anything major in video

You're welcome. I hate to seem like a guy on here that just shares his own videos, but I feel like a video can be 1000x more helpful than reading something typed out or seeing a picture.

MEP802A not starting . Notice anything major in video

I made this video on a scrap LPW2 engine to show what exactly is going on inside with the injections pumps and the rack. Hopefully it will be a little helpful for you in your inspection on the pumps. Possible that the pumps were not put in correctly by the whomever refurbished it. I have a unit...

    I had this battle with the one I went through a while ago. kloppk was very helpful. I made two videos on adjusting everything;

MEP 802A M8 Percent Load Gauge Issue

I have not opened up the back yet to look but that makes perfect sense. I'll need to pull the top off and look back there to see if it's the issue. It didn't look at first glance that it was pulled off but that doesn't mean it wasn't.

MEP 802A M8 Percent Load Gauge Issue

Everyone, I normally keep my troubleshooting issues on one thread for one machine, but I searched a bunch, tried a bunch on my own, and have hit a dead end. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-802a-fix-up-thread-3-0.212213/ The search function doesn't work well, so forgive me if...

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread 3.0

Well, the issue with the M8 is not in S6. So, it COULD be in S8. That means the top would need to come off to get at it. Oh joy! I'm hoping that someone will chime in here and tell me a tip and there will be an easy solution. I already have a PITA fix for that bearing.

So, the squeal is the bearing at the end of the generator. Darn. That is going to be fun. Confirmed it by pulling the cover off and while it was running, getting a squirt of lithium grease on the bearing. It shut right up. That will be on the list if I solve the other issues. At least I have a...
