I don't think the M105 can handle 53 inch tires. I have pulled my M105A2s (and other variants) with both 900s and 1100s behind 5 tons (M939 series, M809 series, and MTVs) and HEMTTs without any issues. As JUANPRADO said, I would stick with 1100s (or the 900s). I only went to 1100s on one of...
Have you considered a take-out transmission? Try Eastern Surplus. I don't know their warranty policy, but I would assume they would guarantee to sell you a working transmission.
Does anyone have access to NSNs/part numbers for an A4 HEMTT? Among other things, I am looking for the rearmost (#4) axle. I need a few other things, but that is the biggest item. Please advise.
Thanks!
I would agree with the others that it could be a glow plug issue. The truck should start without a block heater under those conditions. I recently started my HMMWV and it was only a few degrees warmer (about 25) and it fired right up. It sounded a bit more diesel-y for about 20-30 seconds...
The crank up landing gear is needed if you don't want hooking up to a trailer to be a three person job...a driver and two guys lifting and man-handling the trailer. Even with the crank up landing gear, I find a second person to be very helpful if I don't want to make hooking up a lengthy...
I have the same window in my M1165A1. I also have a rear view mirror. This makes backing up much easier and safer. Also, it makes checking for vehicles in your right rear blind spot much easier.
Any cargo cover that works on an M54, M813/M813A1, M923/M925 will work. I used to always keep a few...and I never paid more than $500 for the cover (new); I've paid as little as $250 (new). GMA used to sell them new for like $700. The covers for the MTVs will NOT work. The covers for the...
There should be some unique things about the TOW MUTT. I recall there being many more holes drilled in the body for the launcher and other equipment. A good friend who many on this list knew, Joe Young (RIP), once restored an M825 back into an M151A2. Years later he regretted doing so because...
I want to fifth or sixth the M416 recommendation. An M416A1 with surge brakes may be a consideration. I have never off-roaded with one so maybe the surge brakes might be a detriment. I have heard there are issues backing up such trailers, which might be a consideration while off-roading.
"Worth" or "What the seller will ask" are two different things. I can buy a complete truck for less than that. No doors, no roof...you want top dollar money...no sale.
Auction trucks are definitely hit or miss. Yes, there are many trucks that are basically runners with minimal effort. There are also trucks that end up as parts trucks. I have had it both ways. I once ended up putting so much into a HMMWV I could have bought it retail (that was my M1045)...
Fuel burning heater kits are also around. A few years back, I found an NOS kit that I installed in my truck. Nothing like flame heat to keep you warm, although the hot water heater kits in the M151s do a pretty good job. I also had an extra NOS (but older) fuel burning heater kit that I sold...
I have not owned either of these vehicles, but I have owned an M1045 (TOW missile variant) and an M1043 (armament carrier). There are other differences with the TOW vehicle. It would also have missile racks in the bed (under the rear hatch), a wiring harness that hangs from the passenger side...
It went to Jack Tomlin from Tony. I bought it from Jack Tomlin in 2001. I eventually sold it to Eastern Surplus in PA. They sold it to a collector in VA. Jeff Symanski knows the guy who currently owns it.
Congratulations on the truck. I used to use batteries from Walmart on the two M151A2s I owned. They fit fine. They were a tad small, but the battery hold down bracket still works and the batteries stay in place. Why pay more for expensive batteries when a $90 or so battery will work just...
