Wish I was there! My kind of trip. Somebody needs to start talking about the raised hood, or more so what is under it. My guess is a turbo 855, 400hp variety? What a fun truck...
This one interests me. Johnny bar should be tied in somehow to the rear service brake port of tractors that have them? ie, if I want to add one to my 925a2, how to do it? I'm guessing just compare the air diagram of a 931 vs 925, and replicate....
I don’t think they are hardened. I think they are deliberately just mild steel, and not treated. Welding should be business as usual. OTR truck frame does not need to flex with articulation and such.
Yep, good point. Bumperettes get scrapped, or free to anybody that wants them, they pay shipping or pick up.
Is that a flip-lid tongue box? Good idea if so. Free storage rules.
Staying 14’ bed to match. Creative thinking on the tongue. I sketched a rough A framed tongue, I’d want it about 4’ long, given the truck bed is 8’ wide (92.5” really). This would allow it to pivot without the beds kissing. The frame rails are 34” apart, so really the only difference from an...
Frame is not cut yet, but will be. It is full truck length so far. Everything still on it. Steps, air tanks, tool boxes, spare tire carrier, muffler, etc... I want the trailer as close to the truck as possible without contacting in a jack-knife.
Be creative. Mount the winch itself on a pivot. Something like the tube collar of an engine stand where you can rotate then pin it at 0 and 90 degrees. Yes it will stick out further by half its length, but so would anything else you hang onto it to get it to do what you want. Then patent it.
Love the booooo.
You need to find somebody who parts these out. They are going to want approximately the going rate for a bed and 2 axles, so figure $1,500, but up to them. JCapple (sp?) would be one of my first picks, but you’ll have shipping.
I am doing a dump hoist on this trailer as...
While waiting for Christmas break to perform the swap, I replaced the Eaton/Fuller splitter cylinder cover and valve on the back of the transmission, since the original had a very slight air leak. New splitter cover had tiny air flow ports for the splitter piston, so the action was much delayed...
As always, somebody beat me to it, likely because I take longer than a year to get anything done. In the background of this pic found on an eBay ad for an M35a2, is the setup I want to make: A M923/5Ax trailer made from an M923/5Ax truck, connected to an M923/5Ax truck, so it matches the truck...
