Looking at the Dorman 84790 Headlight Socket, I would say the answer to this is "No". I'd wager he just added the Packard connectors on the end of the wires (which is really easy to do, but obviously you need to own the said connectors)
I had made the mistake of ASSUMING that if my deuce didn't have too much trouble running the G177s, that the much larger 5 ton M816 Wrecker would have more room. But tonight I was questioning that assumption as I took a closer look at the rear suspension and tire clearance.
The truck currently...
I measured the remaining threads on the rear lug nuts. It appears that there is just barely enough room for a 1/4" spacer plate to help alleviate some/most of the clearance issues.
Do you think I should use a 3/16" plate instead of a 1/4" thick plate?
Thanks! I'm usually overly verbose on my write-ups.
Thanks brianp454, I believe that would be the simplest solution, unfortunately I do not have access to said CNC machine.
Most threads on Steel Soldiers seem to be clearance issues with 395's...
Here you can see there is no clearance for tire chains on the inner duals. In fact, the end corner of the inner duals lug rubs against a bolt next to the trunnion cap (I think that's what it is called).
I have not yet researched if something like spacers is possible (and safe) to move out the...
As you can see from the last picture of the above post, the spare tire fit with no modifications and zero problems. It only took a little more finagling to work into place - mostly due to the increased weight I'm sure.
The spare touches the driver's tool box, clears the pinion park brake, and...
Previously I had been aiming to go Michelin XL 11.00R20's in the rear and with Michelin XL 14.5R20 in the front (super single) on A3 wheels. Well, as most things: price, availability, and distance kept getting in the way. This past week end I was blessed to find a couple of deals for G177...
You are a scholar and a gentleman! Thanks for the pictures. I'll report back what I find in there (probably a few days to be honest).
However, you've piqued my interest about the governor shutoff. I've not given it a lot of thought. But I have had passing thoughts wondering why it didn't...
The air gauge was over 90, near 100 PSI, and as far as I could tell (while also still driving), wasn't moving.
Thank you rustystud. I will disconnect the system in the morning before further driving until I can pull the purge-valve assembly.
Thanks rustystud and m-35tom!
Question:
I ran the deuce, checked for air leaks (was a small leak on the air brake line leading from the governor, but that only required me to seat the line better) otherwise I didn't find any (soapy water test). The air system took noticeably longer to come up...
