As a comparison, my brother put the following "DOT approved" headlights in his newer Jeep Grand Cherokee:
(no mods, I'm not trying to justify, just attempting to help others make their own, perhaps more informed decisions)
Low beams:
55W Sylvania 9006
Lumens: ~1000...
If you're wondering about the brightness of the HELLA headlights here's some research I did:
I had trouble finding the high-beam lumen output of the 100/90W 24v bulb (Hella P/N "XD24100/90"). But I did find the output for the 75/70W 24V.
Directly from Hella it is 1750 (see document page 14)...
I believe that I was told it was a brand new unit. And for the price (~$250 shipped), I sure hope it is. Though I'm not sure if I can trust my memory! Hah.
Spacers arrived today. The plates came plastic wrapped together with thick foam padding on one side. Shipping probably could have been a little cheaper in a USPS flat rate box. Oh well.
They look good. I'm just rattle can painting them. Probably black since hot pink isn't really my thing. ;)...
Thanks rustystud for your continued help.
In the very center there is a rubber diaphragm of sorts which has a little bit of flex. But the whole metal center section does move freely. It did not seem to obviously catch on anything and was not easy to move.
Here's a pointless video I took ;)...
I have been meaning to post. Back on Friday the 14th I actually got the wrecker running for a good minute or two straight but required constant throttle attention to stay running. The engine would respond to the floor pedal, though it seemed sluggish (may be just the size of the engine?). I was...
Not much for feedback so I'm venturing out on a limb. I put calipers on the threads and most read about ~0.27" past the lug nut. So last week I ordered 1/4" spacer plates from Kryptonite Kustoms and they're scheduled to be delivered tomorrow (Tuesday, 08/25/2015). I spoke to someone there over...
Finally pulled this off my air dryer. All 3 o-rings are there, but it is also covered in what appears to be dialectic grease too? I thought that was odd.
Oh, yeah, well, uhmmmm... I "hired" this diesel mechanic but I've only seen him over there like three times. Not sure if he's gotten it running.:confused:
Guess you get what you pay for!:jumpin:
Cool, does it appear as good as it was advertised?
Unless you had something else in mind, when it comes time to transport that I'm sure we could squeeze it into my little Dakota (probably would have to remove the shell), or use my deuce.
If you need somewhere to store it, I have a shed out...
Bwhahaha! Well I take it as a great complement as I do have a '77 Plymouth Trailduster, and my older brother has a '69 Roadrunner with a 383. However, my comment was in regards to "383 Green".
Not to get anyone too excited, but this is thread page 383.
A pie eating social at the church with the others of the quorum. Good excuse to drive my Autobot.
